Unlike a new checking account sign up bonus or earned interest, credit card rewards are classified by the IRS as a rebate, and aren't considered taxable income.

Now that Amex Hilton "Ascend" and "Business" cards have 10 free Priority Pass lounge visits each year, I am curious if anyone knows if they can only be used by card holders and AUs or can the 10 free visits be applied to non card-holding guests... can all 10 be used at once...? tia.

The 'regular' offer is 25k MR's. If you are interested in the card hitting the 50k offer whenever available for your once per life SUB is the obvious choice.

Though not the strongest grocery card, it is pretty strong.

If you value MRs, this is the best (US domestic) dining card.

The food credit is on the weak side if you don't hit grub hub on a regular basis already.

I think for most people (that value MRs) this is a really good improvement. It puts the PRG back on top of a lot of peoples wallets for a lot of transactions that generate valuable consumer data.

I was pretty sure if you can schedule it right there is a way to do it, but I may be mistaken.
Need to figure out if I can get a small balance to report soon

AFAIK, Chase either updates to zero or does not update at all. It's certainly possible there is a method I'm unfamiliar with though.

If I had a statement balance of 1k on a Chase card, and when I paid it was $1,005, will they only update if I PIF, or they will update it to $5?

If it's mid cycle they will only update if the balance is paid to zero and no pending charge interferes with that zero balance during the evening's reconciliation.

It really depends on where and when you redeem it. Some can be a ~58% discount off of the member rate and some can be a wash.

Use the app or the website to find something you might use and see how you might do.

I hope this is the forum for this question as it pertains to the amex starwood card. Is it true you get 2 to 1 when exchanging from spg points into united miles points? The other airlines usually give 1 to 1, i think and sometimes you can get a 25% bonus? I am trying like everyone else to maximize my remaining spg points before august.
Also, Dan has recommended transferring into United points when using Marriott flights and nights program. Anyone know why this airline program is best ?

Starwood has always had a transfer deficiency with United 2:1. But. After August you will be (in theory) able to transfer the new points to United at 1:1 {or 3:1 as the case may be} and still get the 25% bonus for 20k transfers {or 60k transfers as the case may be}...as well as transfer to most of the existing Starwood airline transfer partners, so there is no need to dump them before August 1st if you intend to do an airline transfer... in fact it may be better to wait if that transfer will be to United.

Anyone want to test it? See if Amex started allowing such PCs.

Maybe someday. I have heard of them doing PCs between cobrands before, like from a Delta to a Hilton.

Does anyone know if they will have to sell these (personal - consumer) cards to Chase sometime in 2019? That may cause them to break the normal PC policies.

If you send in something that isn't listed in the letter as 'what they are looking for', it will reduce your chances and probably raise their suspicions. What they really want is an LRT 147 C from the IRS, but they will work with you if you can convince them you have a business.
