General Discussion / Place to give/receive backlinks for SEO?
« on: January 20, 2020, 08:49:56 PM »
Hi,

Is there a place on this site (or a different site) where you can post your website and try to obtain backlinks to help your website go up in search rankings? It can either be giving backlinks in return for a backlink, or just a place to scroll through content and see what you would like to link to, or who you would like to potentially partner with.

Does anything like this exist?

stick with the oldest print mishna berura that money can buy. You don't want to spoil the kid

What if the child isn't really in to Sefarim just yet?

See here & here

Wow, didn't see those! They haven't been updated in so long.

I think it might be time for a more recent, updated thread on the topic. Unless maybe combining them would be better?

I was wondering if anyone has any good Bar Mitzvah gift ideas?

This site- https://oneshotfinance.com/25-cool-and-memorable-ideas-for-bar-mitzvah-gifts/ - has some good ones in my opinion. Do you all agree? If not, any other good ideas?

Thanks!

Has anyone ever done Coney Island as a date? What did you think? What kind of stuff did you end up doing? Any kosher food options on the boardwalk?

Ou daf yomi (elephant) "speaks out" a lot of "raid" as well.. but more on a poshut level. - More like mentioned ikar shitos hareshonim and sugyos in shulchan oruch or achronim. He does a very good job at it - keeping it clear and simple etc. (and fwiu he is the most listened to daf shiur in the world).

That sounds great, but I'm really looking for a brisker iyun shiur at the moment, one with a good structure that focuses on a sugyah, not necessarily the daf. I'll keep this in mind though, thanks!

Shas illuminated is the best iyun daf yomi shiur. (It's not a daf yomi shiur with raid, it's an iyun shiur on the daf).

There are various magidei shiur but overall it's the best you can find.. unless you want to start listening to regular yeshiva shiurim.. R Osher Arieli or R Nissan Kaplan are available online

Sounds cool. Do you know where I can find each of these shiurim?

a lot more than the other shiurim I've tried
He speaks out a ton of Reid.
Shiur takes approximately an hour
Try it, you won't regret it.

I will. Thanks again

How in depth does he get? Daf yomi shiurim tend to be more bekiyus than iyun. I'll try it out though, thanks!

Does anyone have some good shiurim to recommend, on yutorah or any other app?

Specifically, I'm looking for a brisker style iyun gemarah shiur, but I'm open to suggestions for anything.

A number of the Israeli banks have operations in NYC... I work for Leumi USA, but IDB and HaPoalim have offices as well. Leumi is by no means Shomer Shabbos, but it is generally as accommodating as possible.

They usually post jobs on Linkedin.

This seems like something I was looking for, thanks!

Macherusa.com

Never knew about this site, thanks! Do you know if it has jobs listed that are good for starting a full time career? Most of them seem to be part time, hourly pay type of jobs

General Discussion / Companies with good work environments for frum jews
« on: November 11, 2018, 10:54:02 AM »
Does anyone know some good places to start a career as a frum jew in New York? Besides for the obvious things like good salary and reasonable hours, I'm also looking for places where the work environment is well suited for Jews. That can mean most people who work there are jewish, like at Centers Health Care or B & H, or just that they are ok with leaving early on Fridays, have a good location, and is just a generally friendly place to work. I'm looking for something in the Finance field, but I'm worried about working in some of the bigger banks due to the cutthroat environment, long hours, and things of that nature. I'm thinking I'd rather start off in a smaller place that I would enjoy more, even if the work isn't exactly what in my field, specifically as a religious jew who would wear a kippah to work and everything.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
