Anyone familiar with Highway 31 down south between Beer Sheva and the Dead Sea, is it a safe road- meaning does it go near Arabs at all?

You're unlikely to find any highway in Israel that doesn't "go near Arabs at all". Nor is that correlated with being a safe road.
If you look on a map, you'll see that 31 passes by Arab/Bedouin towns.
If the questions is whether it goes over the green line, it doesn't.

Where can one order food in Ashdod with a reliable Mehadrin hashgacha? Rabbinut Mehadrin isn't going to cut it.

ashdod has a large Ger community, should be able to find on the streets in their neighborhood

in elad the city didn't meet any of the necessary criteria but they put it in lockdown without even consulting the mayor while other cities that have Likud mayors were consulted and managed to avoid getting locked down

Which 'Likud' cities had the high rates in April that Bnei Brak, Jerusalem, etc had, yet avoided quarantine?
I'm not saying there wasn't, I simply don't recall.

How about inform everyone without being tested?

Unless s/o is diagnosed positive, his contacts are highly unlikely to quarantine as it's a big disruption to life and work. And "close contact" is typically with ppl in the general public, who he'll have no way to contact.

Nor do i think that most ppl who refuse to test despite having symptoms are actually self-quarantining in order to keep those around them safe.

Hopefully, they'll be able to crack down and punish ppl who purposely put others in danger.

Selective enforcement and selective lockdowns breed distrust. The government is to blame.

People should get tested privately.

what are some examples of selective lockdowns that you've seen?

Anyone been to Bali in end of October to jan time. would like to start putting a trip together, also really considering the STR or the ritz any recommendations on which one?

Was there in that time period, but spent time in Ubud and north rather than the beach towns. Did airbnb villas.
Went with young kids.

Regardless of whether the government is subsidizing the insurance or not, i see a high value in them ensuring that ppl who may not otherwise purchase coverage will have it at more affordable rates. Kudos to the chareidi politicians who pushed it thru.

Anyone know if any schools/kollels in the US have a similar program?

I doubt there is any government subsidy (beyond the actual stipend that is paid by the government in the first place).

 מדובר על ביטוח חיים מסוג ריסק קבוצתי שייערך החל מחודש ינואר 2020 בעבור אברכים שלומדים במוסדות תורניים המתוקצבים על ידי משרד החינוך. ההצטרפות תהיה וולונטרית לכל מוסד תורני בנפרד.  מדובר על ציבור אברכים שמוערך בכ 90 אלף איש ובהיקף פרמיות שנתי המוערך בכ 30 מיליון ₪ לשנה.

In short, it's subsidized (elsewhere it says 50% of costs are paid by the government), and not every eligible institution has to join.

If we still can get a pool of people at all ages signing up and contributing as it is charity it can be sustainable

when a financial system relies on new ppl signing up in order to be sustainable...

I’m confused what one has to do with the other. Is it sustainable as something promising life insurance to people who are members? Especially in light of this epidemic?

He might mean that as long as money is coming in, money will be available to be given out as charity, albeit not in the amounts that were initially communicated.

Still struggling to see why this is classified as a charity, unless you either have no children who can benefit, or tell them to not list your children as a potential beneficiary.

There’s a board of a few people it’s not a 1 man band, and they also have a board of Rabanim. I’m not sure who’s from the Rabonim but I believe R Binumin Landau is one of them.

Do you know if they need to publish a 990 or s/t similar? Couldn't find anything on their site.

I'd be impressed if these Rabbonim have been on top of their books, let alone projections of expected deaths and collections. Shows a high level of dedication.

There is a level of transparency. Recently, every collection had the name of a rav who is overseeing it. If a DDFer has a few minutes and wants to do a good deed, please call one of these rabbanim and hear firsthand about the collection, than report back here. I'll post the names of the last few collections.

He may be referring to transparency of their IRS statements that detail contributions, payouts, and expenses
