Destination Guides And Trip Planning / Winter Zika-Free Destinations
« on: October 26, 2016, 01:38:32 PM »
Given the planning it takes for yeshiva week in mid - end January, and also given the number of Zika infested destinations, what are some good, non-Zika warm weather destinations that people can recommend? I'm looking for destinations outside of LA, Arizona, and Hawaii. Thanks!

General Discussion / Vote for Rabbi Goldberg
« on: October 07, 2014, 04:11:42 PM »
Hello All-

Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg has been nominated as a recipient of CNN's top hero of 2014 list. Rabbi Goldberg founded "Kids Kicking Cancer" which helps kids use martial arts technique to fight the pain they go through fighting their disease. He's an incredible human being and his cause is even more incredible. I NEVER do this but with the power and reach of DDF and it's thousands of users, we can vote Rabbi Goldberg to the top. More information can be found here, or at kidskickingcancer.org.

Up In The Air / BA Avios
« on: June 17, 2014, 03:27:28 PM »
I've been looking for flights from new york to toronto and vice versa using Avios for the months of July and August but there's NO availability whatsoever. When I go to AA to see how much they are charging, it appears that the entire month of August is 40K points.. each leg! What's going on? Is there something wrong with the site or is there just never availability for Avios short hauls in the summer?

Credit Cards / Transferring Over Credit Lines
« on: January 20, 2014, 10:43:46 AM »
Can someone explain how to transfer credit lines from one card to another so as not to incur a hit to your credit? If I have a Chase Sapphire card, I clearly cannot transfer the credit to the Chase Ink card as it's a business card. What would I do though if I wanted to cancel the Ink card... Where would I transfer the credit?

Put up a note in shul

'Looking to buy 7000 amex points'

Don't you need a membership rewards account? And if you do, don't you need an MR linked card to get one?

his question was regarding the bonus not the minimum transfer amount allowed

Correct... I believe spg to avios is 1:1?..

Every second person on the street should have Amex, do a simple trade with someone. I believe people will be interested.
..

How would I go about that?

Up In The Air / Transferring Starwood Points to Avios
« on: December 02, 2012, 08:39:37 PM »
Hello All

I need to transfer Starwood points to Avios as I understand to fly from NY to Toronto, it is only 9000 points RT. I also know that there is typically a 25% bonus on transferred points. If I transfer only 7200 Starwood points to Avios, will that net me 9000 points? Does anyone know if I need to transfer a minimum number of points, in general?

Looking for any and all guidance.

Thanks

I've finally moved on. I'd suggest you do the same

Then why are you both responding to my thread? I love negative people who peruse this site trying to prove everyone wrong... Must be compensating... As for the BS on fuel charges, do the research and get back to me on what you find...

Thank you for the lesson in civility and in humility... And don't make presumptions...that way, as you so stated in the previous post, people will like you more ;)

I definitely did not make any presumptions. I also did not make any assumptions, just speculated that I would not be surprised if that is what happened (which is why I said I would not be surprised and did not state it as fact)
[/quote]

You presume.... As for the insurance, that is exactly how it works... Let's just say. Work in the industry and leave it at that...Finally you say you aren't sure what I mean by the 1000 dollar surcharge and me taking advantage.. Intl. airlines, for years , have been charging that in addition to the base fare.. It's a ploy to get you to think tickets are cheap until you realize all the taxes and the massive fuel surcharge... Glitch tickets were glitches simply because the fuel surcharge was left off, a bogus charge from the get go

That I think is the key point. If you would have presented yourself differently, the response may have been different.
Judging on the way you presented here I would not be surprised if that was the way you presented as well to the El Al agent, which may have been part of the reason for the response you received. Being abrasive is least likely way to receive what you want.

Thank you for the lesson in civility and in humility... And don't make presumptions...that way, as you so stated in the previous post, people will like you more ;)
