Credit Cards / Re: credit score
« on: Today at 05:40:07 PM »
hmm,  ok, i have a bofa card that closes on the 27th, I will get everything else to 0 and have $3 on it. I guess I could let the next card also close with $3 on it, the following week, that should also give a boost, right?
No. Benefit is with only one closing.
The trick is to have the lowest reportable balance on 1 card. $2 is selected since most banks report $1 as zero.
Having 2 cards close with min reportable will decrease the score.

Just signed up at Clifton no problem. Pulled up my account from last time I had membership and added my wife.

Credit Cards / Re: Chase 5/24 rule

I used the card alot, I could of done 50k+ a month. I also spoke to 2 accountants and they do not believe that 3rd party checks is the issue.
So I do not have a answer. I just think that people should not rely on Chase for the points as they shut you down without any notice.
2 accountants?

Chase does not give a reason the bank manager thinks that it might be because I paid the CC with 3rd Party checks. I spoke to different banks and they do not think that would be the reason.
I know they dknt, but wondering if you have any ideas. Anything else you can think of? Other cc close with high balance?

Trip Reports / Re: El Al not our favorite airline
« on: Today at 07:26:01 AM »

We are awaiting our connecting flight back after going to Israel from LAX, and returning early this morning.

Sheesh! Going, we were on a 777-220 that was showing its age. Connection box under seats prevented us from putting our carry-on under seats. Staff were surly, we had to repeatedly ask for the headline and snack that they skipped middle seat.

Returning, we were thrilled to have room in front of us to stow bags. Staff started out nicer, but 14.5 hours in the air takes its toll on staff and passengers. And we had USB power outlets which would have been nicer if they were powered instead of dummies. Sleep would have been nice if it weren't for the neighboring Israelis talking loudly.

To get coffee in the morning, we had to go to the rear galley to get lukewarm coffee.

I think our next Israel trip will be with another airline. And I think we'll do better to start on the east coast.

1. Not sure this belongs in this thread.
2. If you had checked seat guru before selecting seats you would have known about the box under your seats, not El Al's fault.
3.not sure what a headline is or how they could possibly skip snacks for a mode seat. They gave tindow and aisle but not middle? Was middle seat sleeping or away?
4.were they meant as power USB or just a way to connect a device to view your media on the seat back? Like a standard computer USB as opposed to a powered 2A jack?
5 did you complain to crew about noisy passengers or say something yourself?

Be carefull with Chase they close accounts with out giving you any notice and they do not give a reason. I have been banking with Chase for over 30 years.
Can u think of any reason they would have shut you down?

Destination Guides And Trip Planning / Re: Teaneck, NJ

I've never been to the Sushi Metsuyan in Teaneck (I think it's just fish?), but I used to go to the one in Queens several years ago, and in all honesty, I would choose that over Nobo.
Novo is objectively a higher end restaurant. End of story.

Train is definitely easier. Are you only doing Florence or going to Tuscany countryside? Will you stop along the way or just go straight?
What are people’s opinions on whether to take a train from to Venice to Florence or to rent a car and drive myself which is easier/better experience

Credit Cards / Re: Amex Appreciation Gift

I actually find it quite disturbing that Amex is spying on customers like that.... but I guess there doing that anyway might as well appreciate the gifts
Ummm...if you don't want you cc company (who, ya know, needs to pay the merchants your swiping at) knowing where you shop, perhaps you need to get into the cash game...
