Hey folks, we're here and it's lovely. In Ember now, just finishing. Salad was really fresh, mushroom soup was really good. Lemon baby chicken was very good. Oriental veggies were also good (we like soy sauce, lol). The Cheeseburger was very pedestrian. Not terrible, just average.

DW is asking for recommendations of a nail place near Hyatt Ziva for a manicure.

Thank you both!
I just got off the phone with the Hyatt GlobalGlobal Contact Center at 800-323-7249 and they said they don't offer any such thing. Can either of you guide me to the correct place to get that insurance?

Also, does anyone have a suggestion for a health insurance plan that I can buy for the unlikely event that I have a covid (or other medical) issue?

Booked Hyatt Ziva for 2/18-2/22.

Does anyone have information regarding covid insurance, or what the Hyatt Ziva does for positive testers?

Im looking to go FEb19/20th weekend. Whats best option using Marriott points? Need walking distance to shul and kosher food. 1st time for us.
Id prefer not be "overrun w people I may know"...TY

I'm planning to be there that weekend as well. Wife and I stayed in Hyatt Ziva Turq last time and we loved it. Our plan to stay there again. It's 5 mins from shul and restaurants.
Closest Marriott to shul, which is at the tippy top of the hotel zone, is an Aloft (basically across the street). General consensus is that you will not be too happy here. Next closest is Westin Lagunamar and that's a 45 min walk down the Zone. Ritz, JW and Marriott and even further south but technically still walking distance lol. These hotels sometimes have minyanim (especially the Westin) but I don't know how you find that out beforehand. Maybe some whatsapp groups you can get added to.

As far as being overrun w people you may know, it will depend on the who's there at that time. No way to avoid it at the shul and restaurants, obviously.

I'm looking to stay in Ziva Cancun from 2/18-2/22. Was planning to book 1 night using the amex $60 off $300 offer, and the rest using 25k/night UR transferred to Hyatt. Was gonna book reg room and bribe or ask nicely to get upgraded to Turquoise ($100 total cash to receptionist worked last time for 6 night stay). I have no Hyatt status.

I'm open to PMs for better offers.

Just returned from Cancun, before Newark got shut down due to the weather. Lots of canceled flights.
Hope to write up a Trip Report soon, As gratitude to all the amazing reports who made my trip an unforgettable experience!
My Car rental experience and general usage experience was amazingly smooth, no hiccups at all!
Read a lot before and went with Sixt directly, very reliable and nice people, https://www.sixt.com/car-rental/mexico/cancun/cancun-airport knew there is no way to avoid liability insurance, paid everything before, took lots of pics and videos of the vehicle before as advised, adhered to the speed limit, and parking directions, and didn't have any problems Bh.

I'm looking forward to reading your TR!

hyatt ziva food situation:

can anyone comment on breakfast or any other food options on property? I've read a lot about drinks so I'm good on that front.

I think I've narrowed it down to Westin Lagunamar and Hyatt Ziva. Dates are prob 2/18-2/22.
I'll lay out the pros and cons and I'd be grateful to whoever can weigh in:

Ziva Pros:
-We've been there before, although Turquoize, and are familiar.
-All inclusive.
-Walking distance to Kosher and Chabad.
-Consensus is Ziva is nicer property.

Ziva cons:
-cost is significantly higher.
-If I can't get Turquoize, will be a downgrade from last time.

Lagunamar Pros:
-Price is cheaper.

Lagunamar Cons:
-Farther from Kosher and Chabad.
-Lesser quality property
-Not all-inclusive

Can anyone chime in on how either property handles kosher accommodations? Like cooking for you and stuff? I suppose the all-inclusive nature of Ziva would better lend itself to this?

Free testing at Playa Hotels & Resorts

Do we know/think the other hotels will follow suit?

Let's say you test positive.
You wait 2 weeks and test again before boarding?
What if the 2nd test also shows positive then its another 2 weeks?

We'd have to check with the CDC but they do NOT recommend using a test-based strategy for discontinuing transmission-based precautions (essentially determining if you are contagious) because a test can pick up viral fragments for many weeks post-infections. Rather, they advise using a time-based strategy which currently is:

Min 10 days since onset of symptoms or positive result
& improvement of symptoms
& 24 hours afebrile (no fever) without the use of antipyretics (tylenol, advil, etc)

We should verify that they are applying this standard here as well, and it would be very stupid if they didn't.

If anyone is interested in a minyan at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba on Shabbos Jan 22/23, please click the link to join the WhatsApp group and let me know how many people you can bring. Thanks.

Wondering if I can bring my own Abbott BinexNOW rapid test kits with me, and swab myself in the airport and show the gate agent lol.

But seriously... Would that work?

Anyone else planning on being there at the same time?

I'm thinking about taking my family to Florida (Boca) for sukkos. I want to explore the idea of train travel.

Does anyone have any input regarding luxury, sleeping, entertainment, kosher, points/miles, tips, tricks, etc?

Most likely will be TLV-VIE-EWR after sukkos. Overnight in VIE 10/14/20 6:55pm-10:15am.
My party includes a senior, a 2 yr old, a 1 yr old and 3 adults.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance on: airport hotel choices and kosher food delivery.

Thanks in advance!

Deals/Deal Requests / Re: Laptop Deals Master Thread

I need help finding a new laptop for work. Not too needy with tech specs; just for remote desktop, browsing & basic Microsoft office.

Priorities:
Screen size - 15 or higher.
Lightweight - currently at 2.29kg and its heavy and annoying. Want much lighter.
Price - cheap as possible. I'm okay with a slightly older model if necessary. (bonus points if I can use my Dell $100)

Thanks in advance!!

Just so I understand the wiki:
Canada transfers is $55pp
USA is $55 for a group of 3 people?

So for a couple, USA is half the price of Canada transfers?

I'm going to the Ziva from 7/17-7/23. Will post updated photos and reviews after.
