Carvana actually offered me $800 over my buyout but they said they can't do the deal with Nissan Motor Corp. So if your pathfinder is leased through them dont waste your time.
Oh that’s annoying. Wonder why

Checked vroom which was lower then algo but will check carvana now. Thanks!

I just sold them my pathfinder. They are officially picking it up on Thursday or Friday. They paid the buyout. You can call them and ask them if there is anyway they can offer more.

My understanding is that you can only file for PUA as of the date that you should have been employed so you won't be able to file now (pity because right now the additional $600 is only for claims from 3/28-7/31.) Since I'm not 100% sure, you can try calling to verify. (good luck getting through to someone)

Regarding childcare that's also only if you have a basis for a claim. If you're not unemployed now due to lack of childcare I don't see how you would be eligible.
Got it. Thank you again for the help!

That's perfect. Classic example of someone who should be eligible for PUA with no prior employment.
If your place of employment was going to be NY, apply in NY.
When asked for proof or prior income, include your employment letter as well as the postponement letter. I'm assuming your PUA rate will be based on your negotiated salary stated on the letter.
I'm not sure as of what date you would be eligible for PUA, but perhaps that first start date listed on the letter.
Thank you so much!

If my original start date was Sept 14, is there any harm in applying before then or should I just wait until then? Does the fact that I am a “[p]rimary caregiver for a child unable to attend school or another facility due to COVID-19” matter? See

Do you have an offer of employment along with a start date?
I have an offer letter giving us a choice of two start dates and a subsequent email stating they will have to postpone both dates.

I just graduated law school and am trying to figure out (a) if I’m eligible for UI and if so (b) what state I should file in.

I currently live in MA until June when I move to NJ.

I worked last summer as a summer associate at a NYC firm and plan on working there full time at some point in the fall/winter. My start date has been postponed due to Covid-19.

Additionally, I now have kids home from school if that matters.

Any help or guidance is much appreciated.

not sure why they think an exam in September/October will be possible.

Really hope they consider either giving an online exam or granting diploma privileges in lieu of an exam if they have to cancel the fall administration.

Anybody have any idea what they’re going to do with the July bar exam?

So even if they keep 60% for themselves the BOD will have the final word as to what they can do with ALL the profits? (TIA - we're debating a topic here with some colleagues, so just need some accurate info)
Yes, generally, the BoD & management has the final say on all distributions (and all transactions except those required by law to be put to a shareholder vote). However, a “self-dealing” transaction can be challenged in court for a breach of their fiduciary duty by shareholders (though the law is generally very deferential to the BoD/management).

I went to law school, borrowed the bucks, been working for just about 6 years, and don't regret it.

But, I'm still skeptical anytime anyone else goes to law school.  And it has to do with what is your next best option.  For me, there was pretty much no decent next best option, but if you're already been working in business for a couple of years, or if you have relationships that could get you into a job that has some growth potential, the analysis changes dramatically.

Most biglaw lawyers are out of biglaw by the time they have finished paying down their debt, so one way to look at it is that they slaved away at a high pressure high hours job to pay the cost of law school, and their real career starts at that point.  But they jobs they walk into are often no better than they could have been at if they had just taken the other opportunities originally instead of law school.

Many accountants come to law school, because they realize that they are working half the year just as bad or worse than the lawyers, for 1/3 they pay.  But if they'd just stuck it out another 6 years, I think they would get a better exit than if they went to law school for 3 years, then worked as a junior associate for three years.
Just @ me next time. Sheesh

General Discussion / NY - Short Term Apartment Rental
« on: April 04, 2019, 11:33:03 AM »
I’m looking for a short term apartment rental or sublet from around May 6 - June 20 (dates flexible) in commuting distance to Midtown and would greatly appreciate any leads. A 1bdr, basement, chosen kallah type apartment, etc would be perfect.
