COVID-19 Discussion Board / "it's just like the flu"
« on: May 15, 2020, 01:34:34 AM »
Everyone on DDF who said this, please come to me hat in hand. Jk

But in all seriousness, I have friends who are still sick 2 months later.

People who are still weak, suffering from fatigue. Medical sources are saying people have long term lung, kidney, liver etc damage.

My question is, where does this arrogance come from?
Also I strongly urge people to cultivate friendships with people who differ from you in opinion and also at least a few medical professionals.

I think like because I have such a diversified corpus of friends, many I strongly disagree with at times, all whom I respect, it opens the mind to a broad array of ideas.

So far no luck.

Tried boa and Citi.

Has anybody had any luck?

COVID-19 Discussion Board / Build - rebuild crumbling us infastructure

I was thinking that with the country shut down and the economy in ruins.

Could we maybe rebuild the entire USA roads, bridges, airports, trains etc ?

COVID-19 Discussion Board / Should the US go to war against covid19?
« on: March 24, 2020, 03:49:25 PM »
When Pearl harbor was attacked, the USA was not ready at all

The fact that the attack happened with out heeding warnings etc the US army was woefully under equipped, their enrollment numbers were tiny.

In short time, the USA built the largest modern army.

I see a repeat of history here, now that president Trump has invoked war time act, why don't they send out contracts to build and equip pop up ICU's?

From Vin;

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo sounded his most dire warning yet about the coronavirus pandemic, saying the infection rate in New York is accelerating and the state could be as close as two weeks away from a crisis that projects 40,000 people in intensive care.

Such a surge would overwhelm hospitals, which now have just 3,000 intensive care unit beds statewide.

If this country were to set up ICU capacity for 150k. Millions of lives could be saved over 18 months.

Assuming medicines work and a vaccine is found, assuming quarintine, social distances and isolation work..

We could simply just sell these units to other countries that need or compassionate loan.

This project would employ a few hundred thousand people.. the ICU growth and equipment probably will be need anyways unlike say tanks..

What are your thoughts

COVID-19 Discussion Board / What did you book for post covid19 travel
« on: March 23, 2020, 09:23:35 PM »
Skeptical on this one but $42 FLL to Nola in early June (I bought the set the beginning)

FLL to LAX $52 September

Looking at

$38 Atlanta
$48 Nashville Tennessee

Seen some great $50 Philly deals

I was thinking of giving this a go for status

World of Hyatt Explorists can register by September 30, 2020 and earn $1000 Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQDs) and either 7000 Elite Qualifying Miles (EQMs) or 8 Elite Qualifying Segments (EQSs) within three months of registration to achieve AAdvantage Gold status through 1/31/22.

But yes I'm still regretting not getting Hyatt globalist last year and AA platinum. Imagine upgrades to business on $40 flights on empty planes indefinitely

Stop the hefkeiros!!  You are causing direct shfichas damim!!

for every  iresponsible person that puts themselves at risk and puts the entire community at risks

When will you listen ?!?

As though to underscore the importance of quarantine compliance across age groups, a teenager in the video reveals an eye-opening fact: “There are currently kids our age who are intubated and in intensive care.”

Many experts believe that the United States is just 10 days behind the level of severity of the pandemic in Italy. We are at a crucial inflection point, according to the surgeon general, Dr. Jerome Adams, and the time to prepare for what’s coming is now.

“This has been a humbling experience,” Parenti said. “But the cool thing about mistakes is that you can learn from other people’s—so learn from ours and don’t underestimate this.”

By Sunday, 24,747 cases had been diagnosed in Italy, up from 21,157 on Saturday—a record-breaking single-day increase. The country also reported 368 new fatalities, bringing the death toll to 1,809 nationwide
