Tech Talk / How to Retrieve a Google Voice Number?
« on: December 31, 2020, 12:32:20 PM »
We had a Google Voice number connected to a Google Workspace account which expired a couple of days ago. All the help articles say we have 45 days to retrieve the number, but there is no option to "add a number" or retrieve the number anywhere in the settings in the Google Voice account, which is how we were instructed to retrieve it. Does anyone know how it can be done?

On The Road / Car Rental Damage Claim
« on: December 16, 2020, 10:29:07 PM »
I rented a car from Enterprise, with chase Sapphire as the insurance (I don't have car insurance). Someone knocked the front bumper clean off while it was parked.

What should be next steps be?

Call enterprise? Get a police report? Should I leave the bumper as is for the cops to see?

Do I need to bother trying to get security camera footage?

De Blasio's incompetence has been reported on quite well, though Cuomo has largely been celebrated even though he deserves equal blame.

But here are a couple of things being reported on today.

Not only did they not shut down the Subway, infecting who knows how many people, but it also took until the middle of May (?!?!?!?) to actually clean the darn cars.

Imagine Trump screwed over volunteering nurses to score political points

The way NY treated nursing homes will end up being a huge story. They refused to allow nursing homes to send Covid patients to the makeshift hospitals (the ships, the Javitz Center, etc.), refused to allow them in regular hospitals, and kept patients in nursing homes to spread the virus among our most vulnerable. Not only was this a major driving force of the Corona numbers in NY, but the sheer inhumanity of it all is stunning.

And this is De Blasio's response:

Take out NY's awful response to this virus and how is the rest of the country looking?

COVID-19 Discussion Board / Donate Your Tallis to Chesed Shel Emes
« on: April 20, 2020, 02:53:34 PM »
Do you have a kosher tallis to spare? Chesed Shel Emes is running low and can use it.

If you are able to deliver to Midwood (yourself or send in an Uber), PM for the address.
If you are in Crown Heights, PM to arrange a pickup this evening.

COVID-19 Discussion Board / Can we Stop Using Zoom?
« on: April 07, 2020, 01:24:29 AM »

Too many stories like this. Shiurim have been hijacked by Nazis and all kinds of highly objectionable content.

I'm not going to bother linking, ('cause I'm lazy) but Zoom has lied about some of its security measures, such as end to end encryption, and other things. If you need to have an interactive class, Zoom is useful and has great tools, but make sure it is password protected. If it's just a few of you, Whatsapp, Facetime, etc. are better. Try Google meetings for interactive video conferencing.

For streaming use Facebook, Youtube, Periscope or any of the other dozen programs and services there are out there.

COVID-19 Discussion Board / In Search of Oxygen Concentrators
« on: March 30, 2020, 07:06:27 PM »
I'm throwing this out there just in case, though I'm sure anyone on this forum who has any has already has given/sold them to people in need.

Looking to purchase oxygen concentrators to be donated to Hatzalah and other local organizations. Please PM if you have access to any quantity.

Used and refurbished items are also needed.

Please do not PM if you just got a hold of a bunch of concentrators for double the usual cost and are looking to flip them for double that.
