Just Shmooze / The Amazing Race
« on: April 24, 2020, 09:47:42 PM »
Could not find a thread about this, here ya go.

Now that I'm binging TAR (thanks Dan),
the Amazing Race is an awesome show that will also give you some great ideas on where to travel after we've defeated coronavirus.

did I miss a rule about airplane transportation only being allowed - if part of a 'route info' card?

Season 3 Episode 2, Derek and Drew got the fast forward.

Why did they take a 24 hour bus from Mexico City to Cancun, if they could have taken a 2.5 hour plane ride - ( maybe paid for by the show - as per the rules) and get a much better lead on their peers?!

Pretty self explanatory, use the link below to find the deal and more details.

Offers only available to users who haven’t tried Spotify Premium. Supplies limited. Stars will be awarded during the Offer period or until 74,215 Offers have been redeemed. Tech Talk / "Hey Google, Ask Chabad..."
« on: December 05, 2018, 08:15:52 PM »
I had to make a thread about this. I was hoping that someday our virtual assistants' would tell us at least what time Shabbos is. BH it seems like has been working on this for some time and finally we can get Shabbos times and other results directly from just by saying "Ok Google, Ask Chabad...". Thanks to's efforts, this initiative makes shabbos times and other things reach 400 Million devices worldwide. Kol Hakavod to them!

Examples of Chabad on your Google assistant:

“Ask Chabad when is Shabbat candle lighting”

“Ask Chabad to play today’s Torah class”

“Ask Chabad what is the Hebrew date”

“Ask Chabad when is sundown”

“Ask Chabad when is the new month”

“Ask Chabad when is Shabbat candle lighting in Los Angeles on December 28th”

P.S. I did notice my phone was picking up my 'CH's' as in 'Chabad' and 'Menachem' lately, based on the article below this was one of the things Google tuned their AI to pick up and it was in effect for some time.

Amazon & Walmart Deals / Amazon Australia Finally Launches!
« on: December 04, 2017, 05:58:59 PM »
I know only a small percentage of us are currently in Australia, but today marks a new era for Australia. is finally open for the public to purchase products other than Kindle Readers and Ebooks.

Alot of the retailers are speculating that Amazon would negatively affect their business.

Rumors were floating around earlier this month they would do a public launch on black Friday, but due to technical issues, they didn't launch and we were left disappointed.

I am here for a short time from America, and I didn't know what I would do without Amazon. It's almost HP that it opened up only a few months after I moved here!

Just Shmooze / Forcing To Remove A Religious Item Through Airport Security
« on: November 08, 2017, 03:48:21 AM »
A bit of a back story:

Recently I was catching a flight from Nimes Airport (France) to a wedding. If I would miss the flight, I would miss the wedding.

By security screening, I was walking through the metal detector, and one of the security agents told me in his words "Take off your Kipa".
This was obsurd to me. Out all the countries I have been to in Europe, I was never told to remove my Yarlmuka when walking through a metal detector. What puzzled me more was the woman in front of me and in back of me were both wearing hijab, but were let through no problem.
When he told me to take it off, I looked at him like he was crazy and responded "are you serious?" He then motioned to the head security guard to come. I didn't want to make a scene and especially didn't want to miss my flight. Without more questions I did what he said and covered my head with my sleeve, and gave him a dirty look while walking through the detector.
This whole thing obviously made me feel that he was discriminating against Jewish people.

What are the policies for religious garments in French airports?

Could I have made a point by asking why he let woman wearing Hijab through the scanners?
Thanks for reading through.

Up In The Air / Latest flight out of NYC
« on: May 31, 2016, 06:12:18 AM »
I have a good friend which is a Rabbi of a synagogue in London and he must be in NY for a Thursday night wedding (July 21) and as well be back in London before shabbat starts at 9 pm. Since the circumstances call for it he is ready to pay any amount that is still reasonable to make it happen. He wouldn't leave before 10-11 pm from Brooklyn in all cases. He is willing and ready to drive to any city in the east coast and fly into any city in Europe that will make it in time. Thank you.
