On The Road / Germany car rental
« on: September 24, 2017, 09:30:41 AM »
Hi all,

I have trip to Germany in a few weeks time.

I will be travelling at least 1000 miles within that time, and would really like to rent a fun car (you know, autobahn and all..)

Any ideas as to which rental company offers the best, most fun cars (similar to Hertz dream collection in the US)?

Appreciate your help!

Up In The Air / From zero to SA gold in 1 trip
« on: August 11, 2017, 11:22:24 AM »
After collecting *A points for years on LH miles and more for years and not getting past silver status I decided I had to do something new.

So I found the EgyptAir Plus program which offered a seemingly simple solution to attaining gold status with just one trip.
EgyptAir offer a "family program". I have seen similar programs in BA, Iberia etc. But I think this is the first time I found this program actually credits family STATUS miles.

It was a bit of a gamble since the information in EgyptAir website is so bad and with so many typos, it's almost funny.

I was planning a family trip from Israel to South America this summer (couple + 2 kids), and decided to try it to see if it works.

So I sent EgyptAir all the information they require (passport copies and relation of passport holders to me) and after a few days received an email with membership numbers for all family members.

We flew with TK in economy which gave approx  15,000 miles each R/T, just enough to attain the gold status.

Sure enough, a day after I completed the trip I was credited with all the miles and a new (digital - they still need to mail it to me) star alliance gold card.

EgyptAir requires 30,000 miles for silver and an additional 30,000 for gold which is valid for 2 years.

Their redemption calculator seems reasonable though I have yet to try it.

Thought I'll share this information with you and would be glad to answer any questions.

Up In The Air / Non-departure procedure EWR
« on: January 21, 2015, 09:54:16 AM »
I am due to fly this afternoon out of Terminal B at EWR. However, I might not be able to fly for a certain reason, in which case I will need to be back in Brooklyn within 90 minutes.
As time will be of the essence, can anyone advise exactly what is the procedure/route for exiting the airport once I'm by the gate to the aircraft, and how long could it take?
I have been unable get through to the information desk at EWR and am unfamiliar with the airport.

Up In The Air / URGENT- history of departures from VCE
« on: December 31, 2014, 09:55:02 AM »
I'm new here, though I'm well aware of the amazingness of this forum.
I an currently in the process of filing a large complaint against Lufthansa.... Long story - in short I had 2 flights cancelled out of Venice, Italy and was stranded in the airport for 36 hours.
They are claiming "extreme circumstances" due to bad weather though I saw a number of airplanes taking off during that time.

I'd like to find some historical data of departures from VCE airport. The relevant dates are February 11th, 2013.

I'd appreciate any help in the matter.
