Up In The Air / BA wet lease from Air Belgium
« on: January 31, 2019, 05:23:06 PM »
I’ve noticed BA flights from EWR to LHR will be operated by Air Belgium for April-May. Anyone have info or experience with them? Should I prefer BA metal? (From their website, it looks like a they only have seasonal flights from Brussels to Hong Kong. They probably lease the planes when they’re not in use)

Up In The Air / EL AL TLV-NYC from 470$ One way April-May

Very strange, OW fares are 490 for 4/17-18, 470$ for 4/22-24, 5/2-3, and 5/5-9.
All other dates are 1882$. I never saw OW fares on this route. Maybe they have empty flights around pesach, just guessing.
Note: this is only for TLV-NY, not for the way back!

Hi fellow DDFrs. My father zt"l passed away a few months ago. He had 24k miles in his m&m account. I need 30k to get a one way flight from Israel to the US. How can I get miles into his account if he can no longer fly or use a CC? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

Up In The Air / New Expedia feature: price protection for flights.
« on: May 07, 2018, 02:43:17 PM »
I just noticed Expedia (and orbitz) added an option to pay for price protection if a flight goes down in price anytime between booking and the travel date. They refund the biggest difference you find within that time. You get the refund after you complete travel. The price for the protection is around 1.5% of the ticket. This may be worthwhile in some cases. I booked 7 tickets for the summer that dropped 140$ each when air France had 500$ tickets from TLV-NYC 2 weeks ago.

Available on Iberia/BA/AA. These flights only come up on Expedia/Orbitz if you search specifically for American Airlines, otherwise, flights come up for 700+. Sample dates: 6/25-7/24, 7/19-8/9, 7/23-8/26. I also found 666$ on Air France, sample dates 6/25-8/12, but many more available. Only bookable on It's more expensive on OTA's.

Up In The Air / Air France KLM TLV-NYC for 550$

Sample dates 1/31-2/4 bookable on Expedia and Priceline. May be a few $ cheaper with long stop in AMS on the way back.

El Al is having a winter sale from tel aviv to many destinations:
This sale is nothing major, it saves 30-50$ on most tickets. The better part is they have an option to bid for specific flights, where you can get very cheap tickets to Europe and North America:
Book by 10/26 for travel November-January.

Credit Cards / Cc after death of account holder
« on: October 03, 2017, 01:45:22 PM »
I didn't find a thread for this yet, so I need some advice. My father z"l passed away three weeks ago in Israel. His cc due date was the day he died. He had 64000 MR points on his amex platinum. I wanted to know:
1. Do we have to pay his bill?
2. I want to transfer his points to miles before I report the death so amex won't close the account but can't do it since his due date passed. Is there any reason I shouldn't pay the bill in order to get the points? (The bill is much higher than the points value)
Thank you for your advice, and my we only share good news.

Don't know if this will help anyone, but it it's for many dates including pesach and August. A flight from TLV-LCA can be as low as 100$ so it may work for some people.
