Up In The Air / Lost then Stolen Luggage
« on: August 09, 2017, 03:24:55 AM »
I have an unique situation, or so I've been told...

Iberia JFK-MAD-BUD. Upon arrival at BUD I was notified that one suitcase was left in MAD.
I filled out the required forms to have it delivered to my hotel in BUD.
When it arrived 30 hours later it was empty.

I spoke to the airline and filed reports with them as well as with the BUD baggage delivery service.

The business class ticket was bought with Avios.

Anyone have any advice on how to receive just compensation?

What can I expect? They told me to make a list of contents. There was an expensive shaitel which I doubt they will pay for.

What can I do?

Can I make a claim with a credit card policy even if card only paid for taxes?

Any advice is appreciated.

General Discussion / Vacuum Recommendation
« on: January 02, 2017, 10:20:30 AM »
I've been using one of the old Electrolux canisters for the last 20+ years and it finally died.

What's the most similar or best vacuum out there nowadays? (I use it mainly for wood floors.)

Up In The Air / Paris - Airport Transfer
« on: July 11, 2016, 11:27:15 AM »
I am considering Air France for NYC-TLV. Most of their options include an Airport Transfer in Paris. Landing in Orly and taking off from CDG.

Anyone ever do this? How much of a hassle is it? Realistically, how much time is needed? What's the best way and cost to get from Orly to CDG?

The option I am considering has a 3 hour stopover. Is this feasible? Smart?

Saw this on another site:

1. Make sure you logged out from Amex in a mobile browser.
2. Open and search for “american express business card”.
3. DO NOT open Ad link. (it contains 25K offer only)
4. Scroll down until you see “Small Business Cards – American…” in the search results and click it.
5. Go inside and hopefully you will see 75K offer for Gold and 75K for Platinum.

Although it says only on a mobile browser, I did not get the offer on my phone. I then tried it on my desktop and I got it!

Had a minivan for decades and looking to switch to a SUV.

Any reviews/recommendations for a 2016 model.

Tech Talk / Quickbooks & Hebrew
« on: December 21, 2015, 09:28:17 AM »
I recently upgraded to Quickbooks Pro 2013 from a much older version and my Hebrew characters don't display properly anymore.

I am using Windows 10.

The keyboard and laguage setting are all the same as it always was. I have English as well as Hebrew fonts and keyboards. My computer is setup to display non-unicode in Hebrew.

I only have this issue in Quickbooks and not even in all of Quickbooks. My company name, in Hebrew, displays correctly on the title bar. Reports print and display in Hebrew and English. When I am entering transactions, I can switch without any issue between English & Hebrew. Works fine.

The problem is when I am just viewing things like the register that all the Hebrew characters show up as gibberish.

I know that I am not the only one with this problem. I've googled endlessly. Can't find any solutions.

Figured that the DDF minds are better than average....

Thanks for any help.

Destination Guides And Trip Planning / Yerushalayim Eruv

Anyone have any information about the different eruvs in Yerushalayim?

I know there is one from the Rabanut as well as one from Badatz.

What are the boundaries?  Anyone with a map or link to one? I found an old map of the rabanut one but nothing else.

On The Road / Israel GPS
« on: January 19, 2015, 05:59:20 PM »
Where in Brooklyn can I rent a GPS for Israel?

Do all GPS units have the only Area C setting?

I've read different reviews of Waze. Some say Waze can get you killed by sending you to wrong area yet others say that there is a setting. Which is it? It it the same app as in NY?

Up In The Air / Air France - Flying Blue "query is too complex"
« on: January 11, 2015, 10:50:59 PM »
I'm trying to make an award booking TLV-BCN and the system lets me through until the confirmation page.

It even gives me a confirmation number but says that the booking is awaiting payment and is only on hold.

The error message that I get is "Your query is too complex to be booked online. Please contact one of our Air France ticket offices."

The booking is being made for two people, neither of which is the account holder.

I tried using the account holder's credit card as well as the passenger's card.

I spoke to three different reps and they all told me that I need to make this booking at the airport.

Anyone else have this issue and how did you end up making the reservation?
