Just used for a free taxi ride from the Viscount air train station at YYZ to thornhill. Note, rides can begin or end in Mississauga. And there is no option to pick up a taxi from the terminal directly.

Payment by google wallet or amazon payment.

I booked our return trip after Sukkos from BUF-JFK using the JetBlue promotion. We plan to fly Wednesday morning October 10th. Did anyone else visiting Toronto book such a trip? Perhaps we can all share a ride to BUF.

SPG is running a giveaway on Twitter for NY/CT/NJ residents to win courtside tickets to the US Open. My luck, I won tickets and would love to go with my wife, but the tickets we won are for the Saturday evening match, scheduled to start at 7pm.

Bummer. What to do? I asked if I could exchange it for a different day, but they are apparently not exchangeable.

Up In The Air / Holding US Airways Award Ticket
« on: January 03, 2012, 02:05:25 PM »
Last Thursday, I called US to place a Hawaian inter-island award ticket on hold. The agent was unfamiliar with how to ticket such a booking, but was kind enough to contact her supervisor who helped her out (unlike the previous 3 agents who simply said "we don't do Hawaian awards any more")

I was short 98 miles in the account, so she allowed me to put the ticket on hold for 72 hours while I waited for SPG to transfer in 98 miles. Today, the required miles finally posted into US. I figured that the ticket would be gone by now (as it is 4 days later), but the ticket is still showing as "active" and whats stranger, is that it is showing as being issued today January 3rd 2012.

I wonder how much longer this will last. Although I have enough miles to book the ticket, Id raher wait until I know for sure which Islands I'm visiting.

I received an e-mail recently with the following promotion:

Simply register by January 15, 2012, and complete just one stay anytime from December 1, 2011, through January 31, 2012, to receive your reward.

This exclusive bonus is on top of the abundant rewards you receive as a member of the Starwood Preferred Guest® program, including two Starpoints for every US$1 spent at more than 1,000 hotels and resorts worldwide across our nine distinctive brands, including W®, Le Méridien®, Westin® and Sheraton®.

We look forward to welcoming you in person.

Register today at SPG.com/bonusbeginnings.

I was surprised to have received this e-mail as I have made multiple stays this year and I am a platinum member. Still, I appreciate the gesture! Now I wonder if an award stay would count towards this. The promotion does not specifically stay that it must be a paid stay, and award nights now count towards elite status.

Credit Cards / AMEX Plat CSR getting ugly
« on: July 12, 2011, 10:24:02 PM »
Signed up for the Amex Plat in May. got a total of 110,000 bonus points using the 100k promo + the InSite promo. Also took advantage of the $200 is airline fees with AA.

The points posted a few days ago. Called up tonight to cancel the card and I got an agent who was really tough. Conversation went like this:
CSR: So why are you closing the acct?
Me: because I no longer need the benefit of lounge access. I have status with Skyteam and get into lounges that way.
CSR: If your with skyteam, then why did you use the $200 credit with AA?
Me: Because thats the only airline that charges me fees: Im not elite with them.
CSR: Uhu. And how many bonus points did we give you when you signed up?
*Click*!

I decided to hang up. It seemed as though he might be inclined to somehow ding me for the value of hte points and airline fees.

Anyone else with similar experience? Will I get the same result when I call back another agent?

On The Road / Hertz Prestige: Which car to Choose
« on: January 04, 2011, 06:10:36 PM »
 ;D

I have multiple one-week reservations at PBI that I found at Hertz.com using the generic Delta discount code with the 200 mile coupon. Base rate on Prestige cars showed up significantly less than even a basic economy...

Mrs. Elite Flyer and I have boiled down our choices to either:

A) Infiniti G37 (4 door) base rate $80 per week: Total after taxes and concessions $110
B) Mercedes "C-Series" (nothing more specific in the description) base rate $86: Total after taxes and concessions $118

There was also a hard top corvette convertible (not sure if its a V8) for $152 AI, and a Volvo C70 convertible for $110.

Max mileage is 1400 per week; .35 for each additional mile.

Which car do you recommend for cruising south Florida in for a week.

Up In The Air / DL Medallion Gift: What to choose?
« on: December 22, 2010, 11:09:34 PM »
Im at the 11th hour for choosing my Platinum medallion gift for the year? Here are the choices:

20K DL Skypesos (I currently have 55k in my acct)
200 DL $$$ valid for a year from issue (I currently have $850 DL$$$)
A $200 gift certificate to Tiffanys (This would be a gift to Mrs. Eliteflyer, sometime in the next year)
Then there is the $200 Marriott cert. which appears to have too many strings attached to actually be worthwhile.
What do you guys recommend?

(Note to MODS: How do I put a poll up on the post?)

Deals/Deal Requests / MEGA BUS: CHEAP TICKETS
« on: June 23, 2010, 07:40:28 PM »
I had once heard that there is a way to change megabus tickets (purchased at rates as low as $1) to different dates with minimal fees without paying a difference in fare.

Anyone have information on this?
