Credit Cards / is it a new way to get AMEX Platinum
« on: January 09, 2018, 04:14:56 PM »
Hi everybody,

Probably your already discussed this topic, however I can't find it.
I want to share that my better half and I received offers for The Platinum Card (AMEX).

1. I received in a "popup/banner" message when I logged into my amex account. Usually, I see something like "Refer friends. Get rewarded" but this time I got "You're pre-approved...". I followed the link and applied. Of course I did screenshots and downloaded T&C (no "Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product.").
Last week I got my 60K.

2. My better half received an email with "You're selected to apply ... ". T&C doesn't have "Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product".
Lets see if this one works as well.

Both of us applied for a 100K offer in 2016 and closed it in 2017.

From reddit:
Barclay has a new systemwide rule that prevents approval for a card within 24 months of having opened the same card

Just another restriction.

Up In The Air / A new terminal is coming ... (Hebrew)
« on: December 25, 2017, 03:12:09 AM »,7340,L-5061373,00.html

Passenger traffic data at Ben-Gurion International Airport are breaking all forecasts, and it is already clear that the forecast for 2030 at Ben-Gurion Airport at 30 million passengers will be realized sooner than expected - by 2024. This week, 20 million passengers passed through Ben-Gurion Airport, With an increase of 17% compared to 2016.

The forecast is that in 2008, more than 23 million passengers will pass through Ben-Gurion Airport, and there are now requests for an additional 7,000 "slots" for the summer of 2018. The IAA is preparing a plan to adjust the infrastructure.

The IAA's comprehensive plan, at a cost of NIS 5 billion, is to expand the ground building at Terminal 3, add 86 inspection counters and independent check-in processes. The security inspection area for the handpiece will be expanded by 6 additional inspection machines, while introducing technological and biometric improvements. In addition, in the next few weeks, 8 additional exit sleeves and two bus exit gates will be added to Terminal 3 with the opening of the fourth arm.

Due to the increase in low-cost flights and the forecast to double the number of passengers in Terminal 1 from 1.4 million this year to about 3 million passengers by 2019, flight registration counters will be added, the hand-checking area will be expanded, and border control posts and number of exit gates will be increased.

The evacuation of the cargo area near Terminal 1 will enable the passengers to increase their passenger capacity for domestic flights and the anticipated increase in the closure of Sde Dov. The longer-term plan is that Terminal 1 will be a fully independent terminal for low-cost flights, and passengers on these flights will also exit and enter Israel via this terminal. This is when the domestic flights will be built a separate terminal.

The increase in passenger traffic to and from Israel is a direct result of the open skies policy led by Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz. "We are committed to accelerating the development of Ben-Gurion Airport in order to prevent a situation in which the main entrance and exit gate of the State of Israel will be blocked by passengers and cargo. The plan will provide a response to the immediate needs of Ben-Gurion Airport and its response to the increasing traffic of passengers, "the Airports Authority said yesterday.

On The Road / I am staying at a hotel and got not what I booked
« on: December 17, 2017, 01:30:37 AM »
I booked 2 nights @Omni Hotel San Francisco. According to Trip Advisor its #2 hotel in San Francisco with 5475 reviews and 4.5 ...

I don't know who wrote those review but I strongly disagree with it.

Anyway, about my issue. I booked with Chase points 2 nights (separate reservations) for 15K points per night for a Premier 2 double bed room. I added ~2k points for a "city view" room. However, they placed us in a old room with a discouraging courtyard view and we don't like it at all.

Can I ask Chase to cancel my reservation for tomorrow? I have a screenshot and email confirmation that I booked a room with "city view".
