Up In The Air / BA and kosher food
« on: October 19, 2020, 09:31:47 PM »
Does anyone know whose kosher meals BA served? What company and under whose kashrus supervision? And, the reservations people did not see clear.  At first they told me that there may not be kosher food available but now tell me that its reserved and approved so it will be. TY

Up In The Air / BA Avios refunds during Corona
« on: August 28, 2020, 05:06:27 PM »
I booked a ticket to EY using BA Avios miles. I had to cancel last minute as I could not get an ishur in time.  I was charged a $55 fee.  Does anyone know if there is a way to get that back? More so, is that standard policy? I want to book again but am hesitant to incur this fee a second time

Up In The Air / Extending AA Miles
« on: June 12, 2020, 01:35:20 PM »

My AA miles are set to expire in a couple of weeks.  I am not ready to travel now.  They used to allow you to use points for mags and I once found something for 800 miles or so.  They don't have that anymore, just newspapers and that doesn't work for me/  I do not have an AA credit card.  Any other way to extend and stop expiration?  TY

Up In The Air / City TY Points to Spouse Qantas
« on: February 20, 2020, 09:46:42 PM »
Am I able to transfer my Citi TY points to a Qantas account in my husbands name? Last name and address is the same.  When I went into my citi account to transfer it entered my name by default as the Qantas account holder name and I cant override.

Up In The Air / City TY Points to Qantas
« on: February 04, 2020, 05:18:26 PM »
I have 71k in Citi TY points that I have been waiting for an opportunity to use.  I checked to see what they have available and after logging in it shows me my points and informs me that I can transfer to Qantas with a 25% bonus thru 2/24/2020.  That works well for me as I already have 215k Qantas points and hope to eventually use for 2 business class tickets to Israel.  But, when I click thru on the learn more option the only option there is to transfer to Jet Blue! Can anyone explain? At 1st I thought that it depends on which points that you have but I was logged in so they should know!

Up In The Air / Qantas To Israel
« on: November 19, 2019, 03:04:36 PM »
I transferred all of my Amex points to Qantas back by the 44% bonus, but boy have I been frustrated.  I have been trying to use the points to book travel to Israel with no success.  I do not need specifically El AL nor a specific airport.  Ive tried Newwark, JFK, LGA and even expanded to Baltimore and Philadelphia as per Dans suggestion.  I've tried multiple dates as well.  I tried winter dates, summer dates., and after Pesach as a return flight for my son.  Same frustration each time.  The closest that I came to finding was on BA with a 10-12 hour or longer stop in England and then the last leg from Jordan on Air Jordan.  Not what I am looking for! Can anyone offer concrete tips that can help me find "real" flight options?  TY to all

Just Shmooze / Looking for advice. Laptop? Tablet? Etc
« on: August 28, 2019, 10:15:12 PM »
Hello. Wondering if anyone can guide me.  I am looking for a very cheap way to do very basic word processing in Hebrew.  I do not want internet or any other entertainment options.  Just the ability to use a word processor.  Either word, or something similar that will allow the files to be saved and recognized by Microsoft word. I considered the Amazon Fire, there are great deals or Windows tablet.  I would have preferred a laptop but I am looking in the $100-150 range so that doesn't seem to be realistic.  I am totally ignorant and do not know the advantages, disadvantages and limitations of each.  Can anyone offer advice?

Up In The Air / Does Global Entry Include TSA presecreen?
« on: June 04, 2019, 06:10:44 PM »
I am a little bit confused.  I have applied for Global Entry, and just need to do the interview.  When I called to get information on TSA prescreen (just making sure that I have the terms correct, I mean whereby I can bypass the standard security lined before check in) they told me that it is included in GE.  A friend of mine just went thru the TSA pre screen in the airport and they told him that they would not allow someone with GE to use that line.  What gives, is it included or not? Can someone educate me please?

Deals/Deal Requests / Quickbooks
« on: December 12, 2018, 04:19:03 PM »
I run Quickbooks Pro 2014 for desktop.  I am having a problem with it and intuit won't help unless I upgrade to 2017 or later.  I barely use anymore, but need access and can't without their help,  Does anyone know of a really cheap (and legitimate) way to purchase an upgrade?  TY!

Credit Cards / Citi AA Miles
« on: October 26, 2018, 04:19:56 PM »
I just opened a credit card and got 55k miles.  The card is in my name but I wanted to get the miles to go into my husbands account.  Is there any way to do that?

Credit Cards / Citi Thank You Points
« on: September 13, 2018, 04:00:48 PM »
I had always hears that TY points are valuable.  I'm looking at the options though and unless I am misunderstanding my options their value to me is minimal.  Am I correct that the only option to transfer to an airline rewards program is Jetblue? Not sure how else I can maximize their value

I am looking for a 3 day 2 night getaway for a couple.  Needs to be within a few hours drive of NY/NJ area.  We've done the mystic/newport area.  Prefer a place where we can find a nice hotel as well.  I'd really hop on a plane to Colorado but not sure that it makes sense for that short of a trip.  Any ideas?  TY!

Destination Guides And Trip Planning / Traveling to Montreal
« on: February 07, 2018, 01:47:05 PM »
We plan to travel to from NY to Montreal for a chasuna iy"h.  We are traveling with a couple and 6 or 7 kids.  A few teens and younger.  We would like to travel over the border after the chasuna and find a place to stay shortly thereafter.  Preferably a place with a 2 room suite.  If not something with adjoining rooms.  We don't need fancy, its only for a few hours, just clean and not with a low element.  If it were available I have Hilton, spg and Marriott points that I can use, but doesn't have to be that.  Does anyone have experience with such a place?  TY
