Credit Cards And Finance / Maximum Cards allowed on Amex
« on: August 22, 2011, 10:31:07 AM »
So apparently there is such a thing - I triple appd plat, spg, and spg biz - first two were approved and spg biz rejected "bc max cards based on customer's credit profile has been reached"  says applications csr.

Anyone ever have this situation before? What is the best way to go abt pushing it through (and yes im willing to close other amex cards i have, just wondering if anyone dealt with this before)

Wife and I traveled last week, and gate agent was super nasty and refused to allow us to board unless we checked our carryons (which were standard size, not overstuffed, carried on flights prob close to 100 times if not more). It was a 777-200 and we pleaded that there is no doubt the bags will fit and if not we will gladly check. That elicited eye-rolling and threats to not allow us to board at all. Bc we were forced to check both our bags at the gate (gate agent was really getting nasty - "if we dont check your bags NOW, we will close the cabin door and plane leaves without you) we had to beg boarding passengers for a shopping bag so we could carry on some basic items with us - gate agent was of no help when we asked for a bag of any sort and was practically laughing at us, enjoying the scene of watching people grabbing items out of their carryons and cramming things into a shopping bag on the jetway. Finally when we were done, as we are boarding wife requested to speak to supervisor and complained briefly to him. Supervisor then has audacity to tell me "i advise you to board right now! you are lucky you are calmer and more humble than your wife or I would throw you both off - honestly I was livid but realized that fighting at that point would do no good.
Wife and I both complained to DL. Wife was granted $100 fly voucher which she is okay with for the inconvenience. Then DL writes to me: "Our records show we responded to your wife on March 29, 2011 and it appears you may not have received a copy of the email...we apologize again for the inconvenience". I bought two tickets for the flight. We are two people. We were both inconvenienced and mistreated. What is this DL shtick that "we compensated your wife already"? Am I off base here? We were both mistreated by the jetway staff...I am going to call/write back of course but asking any strategic advice that anyone has before I enter round 2

General Discussion / wrist issues from using a mouse
« on: April 03, 2011, 11:37:18 PM »
Anyone else have carpel tunnel effects from using a mouse? Sometimes my wrist gets so tight when Im scrolling that it becomes almost impossible. Dr recommended ice/heat ice/heat and advil. I just switch off hands but was wondering if anyone here has any advice. (using a laptop is way better bc no mouse but sometimes i have no choice, especially at work)

other dates may be available and may be a mistake so jump quick if interested.

Tzoo says $418, but i just got $278 for 3/28-4/5.

From Tzoo:
NEW YORK--MARCH 22, 2011-- Nonstop fares to London from New
York City were just slashed to $418 roundtrip, including
taxes, for last-minute departures.

This price cuts more than $250 off the usual cost of this
route and is available on select dates through April 12.

Important: The fare is unadvertised and could disappear at
any time.

Credit Cards And Finance / Amex Plat foreign exchange fees
« on: March 15, 2011, 01:07:50 PM »
I called Amex and they said that foreign fees will be waived starting 3/27. I need to charge an apt stay in euros and my dates are 3/24-3/28. The vendor wants full payment upfront on 3/24. I spoke to amex and they said they cannot control when the payments hit the system. It would be a pity to throw money out the window for a foreign exchange fee bc im 3 days early. Any suggestions or advice on how to deal with Amex (either who to talk to or how to "delay" payment) and get the fees waived?

On The Road / Air BnB
« on: March 15, 2011, 01:03:21 PM »
Does anyone have any experience booking through air bnb? If you do, how was your experience and your stay?

Does the personal card rule of - use a starwood card for general spending and keep an open eye on general card offers and use them when you need to reach spending thresholds apply?

I only see a 10k starwood offer for business. Is that the best current offer? Is there another amex that is better (boss wants amex only but maybe i can convince to get visa as well if offer is good enough)
