Credit Cards And Finance / Inflation In The Frum Community
« on: April 25, 2021, 03:34:21 PM »
So in light of the larger amount of stimulus we received, coupled with other sorts of increased government assistance, inflation in our community is far more inevitable, and sooner to happen here than in the general society.

What comes to mind first is summer houses and bungalow colonies in the Catskills. Demand had skyrocketed and with it the prices. Too many people have made an easy dollar to miss country this year, or to be satisfied with going just for a half summer. The result is that a 1 1/2 bedroom jungalow start's at a minimum of $6k for the summer, and by now even availability for these are non existent.

Sales of summer houses are also at a record high, all developments are selling out extremely fast, and the reason for that is unarguably the EIDL loans which people are now using for purchasing a summer home.

What other areas of inflation have you seen already?

Anybody with information on the new chassidish yishuv in Casa Grande AZ? How many people moved there already, what do they envision for the future?

Politics / Who Will Trump Pardon In His Remaining Hours ?
« on: January 18, 2021, 07:04:28 PM »
There's a lot of talk of pardoning himself, Rudi, Steve Bannon (and hopes for Sholam Weiss). But is there any possibility he'll pardon some or all people charged for the Capital violence? Imagine the uproar this will cause.

Eta. Only email link opens up, perhaps it's targeted. @Dan ?

With so many rumors going around on Kim's situation, what can we expect for a world without this tyrant, can we put hopes on his sister, another "Kim", to be different?

Tech Talk / Which Wireless Bluetooth Headphones Should I Go For?
« on: January 15, 2020, 01:43:11 AM »
I'm looking for a cheaper headphones with high quality sound, using it to listen to music during exercise, 3-4 times a week.
I know there is the top brands like Bose, Beats etc. but I'm really looking for something in the $30 dollar range. (I missed the $20 Anker headphones deal, only lasted for a couple of minutes :-[)

I searched around and found these two highly rated ones on Amazon:

Is there a pro out there who can guide me what to look for, and if I can expect a decent functioning device with high quality sound in this price range?

Deals/Deal Requests / Samsonite Luggage, Huge sale on Ebay
« on: November 26, 2019, 11:01:43 PM »

So I came across this brand while looking around for a good tool kit for my summer home here in Monticello's Walmart. I was simply astonished by the low cost of these tools, I mean a 20 Volt lithium cordless drill for $22.95??

And look at these All-in-1 tool kits.

And yet still I didn't buy anything, because.. because it was too cheap.. Perhaps they are all just a piece of junk?? I know Home depot's own brand, Ryobi, makes very good tools, although not in that low price range at all,  But I wonder how is it with Walmart's own brand, and they have a lot of items under this name. Does anyone have experience with this brand? Of course just for the summer anything quite decent is good enough, but I would still want to hear more on this brand, I can make good use of this wide range of low cost tools.

So anybody here who uses the free Freedompop service basically for Waze and email, are you aware of the change? did anybody study the new company Ting's rates? Any thoughts?

They say my account already has migrated to Ting, but still I have service without yet choosing a plan at Ting, it just changed from 4G to 3G.

Deals/Deal Requests / Costco Cash Cards
« on: May 03, 2019, 12:05:44 AM »
I noticed that when I try to buy a cash card online, and I'm applying some little money whats left on my old cash card towards partial payment , the order gets canceled within a few hours.  I know finding a way to cash out what's left on a gift card defeats the entire purpose of the GC industry, but I didn't think they will restrict that so obviously.  Did anyone encounter the same? How do you utilize less than $50 on a Costco Cash Card? Definitely not worth a Costco trip for that. (And I don't have the courage to show up with a $200 worth wagon at the register with only $35 on my Cash Card)
