Up In The Air / Pricing tactic for business travelers
« on: October 31, 2019, 03:51:24 PM »
Why is it legal for airlines to increase the price for flights that are round-trip in the same week.

The same flights when staying a weekend are often up to half price.

Up In The Air / Choosing an airline for Israel
« on: October 31, 2019, 03:49:24 PM »
After today's warning article about El Al (Link below) I am more determined to post my question (please direct me to post if it exists).

I need to start travelling from TLV to NYC (preferably EWR) fairly frequently (4-8 yearly). I am looking for economy direct flights. I don't see a good choice besides for El Al (even with all it's issues).

El Al has great schedules and lots of flights (especially to Newark).

United is usually more expensive and out of TLV flies mid-day (terrible) or 11:30pm which is not as good IMO as the 12/1am options of El Al. They also have worse return times (for example flying out of NY on Thursday afternoon/evening to arrive for Shabbos isn't possible with United).

Delta seems to have one flight per day and it's to JFK (much less convenient) and the Motzei Shabbos flight is often astronomically expensive and, like United, you can't fly from NY on Thursday for Shabbos. I also had a horrendous encounter with my last Delta flight to Israel with my family (I did get 5 $200 GCs after writing a long complaint letter but I can at least conclude that bad service can be had with Delta too).

So what real choice do I have? Purposely take a layover in Europe to fly a better airline?

What are suggested places to go for a 2-3 day getaway (by plane) from Israel? And what's the draw?

Up In The Air / Booking a ticket without a passport

Passport is being renewed. Booking site I used booked the ticket but then emailed me that without passport the ticket will be cancelled.

Nothing to do right?

Up In The Air / Changing a wideroe ticket
« on: February 20, 2014, 05:48:37 PM »
Anyone ever try changing their wideroe tickets after booking?

I have a trip for Milan planned and would love to change destination to Rome instead of Milan - Think I have a chance?  (Also slight date change)

NOTE: They emailed me a few times telling me that my itinerary was slightly changed (flights moved around by a few minutes each)

NOTE 2: I see that all my flights are Air Canada and AC also flies to Rome - you think I can call Air Canada and they can help?

General Discussion / Megillah Nusach audio online?
« on: February 18, 2013, 12:46:06 AM »
Looking to download a file with audio of Megilla laining. Anyone know of a good recording available?  (found a couple online but they are a little different than I am used to).

Also, (perhaps more importantly), looking for Shabbos davening nusach audio files. Very hard to find normal ones online.

Leads appreciated.

I have applied for gold and plat in past (some as old as 3 years ago) and I am re-applying for same cards. I'd like to keep all my discontinued cards attached to my login so I can see all my transactions that I have made with each card (for records/accounting purposes).

Any reason not to? Does it somehow change my churning ability?

Is there an easy way for me to retain my records for each CC and still remove from my online account?

Just Shmooze / Skiing between NY and Baltimore
« on: December 27, 2012, 11:17:41 PM »
Wondering what ski spots there are as you head south from NYC. I am going to be heading to Lakewood and Baltimore in coming weeks and would love to stop to ski if there is somewhere sorta on the way.

Any ideas?

p.s. Edit: Just realized that some people are going to click on this thread wondering how in the world I am going to ski from NYC to Baltimore. An intriguing venture I must admit. Not what I had in mind. A bit misleading....but I ain't changing it ;D

Father and son sledding photo - kid has payos.

I procrastinated and didn't pay tickets for 18 months+. (I have some excuses and got messed over a bit but I should really take full blame at this point).

Fee owed is now ~$400 - I am getting ready to just pay it and get it over with.

Figured I'd ask the chevra quickly: any reasonable move I can take to try to get it reduced?

Deals/Deal Requests / Office supplies - where to order from?
« on: October 10, 2012, 09:36:48 PM »
Helping someone get set up with his new office. 3 employee company. Small office. Needs office chairs, post-its, folders, paper, scissors, etc.

Was curious if anyone here on DDF has any tips on where to go.

He is planning on just making a big order from staples but something tells me there are better places and better ways to save.

(business accts, speciall cc's, ways to get sales, etc.)

Any help appreciated. Thanks.
