Credit Cards / Time for Class Action again Citi's Foreign charges
« on: May 30, 2013, 03:19:15 PM »
Citi for some reason charges foreign charges for ALL charges that have bases outside the states, although they are charged in USA, and the merchant address is based in the USA. All charges that Chase, Amex and US bank won't charge when charged through them, Citi will still charge.

Some of them:

- TACA LM
- BA.COM
- ELAL
-SINGAPORE.COM (even departing the USA)

The list is probably much longer. But I do think that has a good chance to succeed with a C/A.

Up In The Air / Canceling a Virgin Atlantic award ticket within 7 days
« on: March 19, 2013, 01:27:19 PM »
I have now a situation where I need to cancel a VS award ticket for tomorrow.

Per their policy within 7 days of travel no refund of miles will be given.

The only workaround I found was this:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/15573221-post10.html

However, on VS site, there is a clear saying that it does not work:

"If for any reason a flight reward is cancelled less than 7 days prior to departure, no Miles will be refunded and no fee will be charged. If you change the original travel date (within 7 days of departure) and later decide to cancel your flights, you will forfeit the mileage used for the reward"

Want to know if anyone here has first hand info on this...

TIA

Up In The Air / MH - LY, what will happen with the baggage?
« on: February 14, 2013, 04:37:58 PM »
Now that Malaysia Airlines can be booked with AA, and can be combined with LY such as:

ADL-KUL-HKG-TLV

Or KUL-LHR-TLV

I am wondering what will happen with the bags.

to date, MH has no partnership and no interline baggage agreement with LY at all. Meaning that they cannot transfer bags between each other.

If it's a no-go I am wondering what will happen when it is MH-CX-LY such as MEL-KUL-HKG-TLV will that make any differnece being that CX does have interline baggage agreement with LY, will that make any difference?

Appreciate your input...

Up In The Air / Possible to change a ticket outside 331 days?
« on: February 12, 2013, 11:13:36 AM »
Trying to book a Delta RT ticket using skymiles.

Person wants to fly June 2013, and return September 2014.

Would such a scenario work?

Book June 2013 with a December 2013 return. At October 2013, call to change the return for September 2014.

Appreciate your input...

Trying to book the above

SYD-LHR on CZ, LAX-SYD on VA. No go. pricing at 300K Skymiles. tried many reps, no explanation.

Why isn't this a valid open-jaw?

Up In The Air / Switching award type on AA?
« on: January 24, 2013, 11:02:21 AM »
Have 2 awards seats on hold with AA (which are no longer available to re-book).
That trip is turning into a RTW trip.

Would AA be able to switch the redemption method to an explorer award, or would I have to cancel and re-book?

Up In The Air / Where to credit Air India flights?
« on: January 06, 2013, 07:28:50 PM »
A relative is flying Air India. Has no mileage accounts with any of the below.
Where is the best to credit a shy 15K miles:

1. Air India Flying returns.
2. LH's Miles and More.
3. SQ's Kris flyer.

Any advice?

If anyone here books a lot LY on AA miles, you have probably noticed that for the last 10 days, the AA reps find close to 0 availability on LY.
LY has many seats in class E and X (award classes) which always used to be the same availability through AA, but now they seem to get none. And you can see those on EF and KVS (displaying regular inventory).

Some reps will say: "it's not available", the more clever reps will say: "Elal's direct access system is down, keep trying".

2 weeks ago this problem was only on the HKG/BKK/PEK-TLV market, now it seems to be expanded to NYC-TLV as well.
one out of 25 reps will get you availability or know how to book without direct access.

The most frustrating thing is that this isn't officially documented and reported to all reps, so they have no clue about this. When JAL or CX is down for one day, there is reports within hours, because this gets their attention instantly, but on LY it doesn't seem like they have so much attention.

Anybody here has successfully booked an LY ticket with AA the last few days?

Up In The Air / Air France award chart?
« on: October 05, 2012, 01:05:34 PM »
Any link to that?

Searching for TLV-ICN one way which is available on Korea, but all their routing options online are via Europe which is pricing out higher.
Any Idea how much they'll charge for such a one-way in business?

Looks like most partners inventory are not showing up the last hour.
Anybody else experienced this?

By calling the .com support desk, they still don't seem to be aware of the problem, as nobody knows what I am talking about, until I have them search for dates where seats are available.

Tech Talk / Transferring emails from outlook to outlook. Any free way?
« on: September 10, 2012, 09:17:50 AM »
Just changed Pc, and trying to find a way to transfer emails saved on outlook from old PC to new one.

After searching I came across this site: movemyemail.com which has a paid version. But I believe someone here might have a free way how to do it.

Any input would be appreciated...
