Destination Guides And Trip Planning / Shabbos 2-3 Hours From NY
« on: July 31, 2012, 02:48:11 PM »
I didn't know whether to put this in the Poconos or Catskills posts so I decided to start a new one:

Can anyone suggest a hotel/location (would search for a place on VRBO) 2-3 hours from NY that is walking distance to a shul/minyan? My friends and I are looking to go away next week and are having trouble finding a good place to go.

Goods For Sale/Trade / 2012-2013 Knicks Season Tickets
« on: July 26, 2012, 08:45:55 PM »
Anyone interested in buying Knicks seasons tickets? My 2 tickets are in Section 208 (newly renovated) and face value on each ticket is $75. I would also be willing to sell half and quarter season plans for face value but we would need to split up the games evenly.

On The Road / Hyatt Availability
« on: April 29, 2012, 09:00:34 PM »
I was planning on making a reservation at the Hyatt Regency in LA for the weekend of June 30 - July 2. Unfortunately, by the time I got my act together to call and make a reservation the hotel was sold out and there is no availability! I was also Diamond (from the challenge) and they switched me back to Platinum last week after I had a 2 month extension of Diamond status. I called the exclusive Diamond line tonight and they offered to guarantee availability for me but the cost per night would be $459 (up from $299 a few weeks ago). Anyone have any advice on what I could do to get a room/get the rate I saw a couple of weeks ago or is this a lost cause?

Up In The Air / AAirpass for American Airlines
« on: December 18, 2011, 01:03:51 AM »
Is anyone familiar with AAirpass for American Airlines?

I was able to enroll for free and I wanted to know if I could use the benefits on a ticket not booked with AAirpass rates...

Up In The Air / Is It Worth Using Miles?
« on: October 10, 2011, 01:56:24 PM »
Looking for some help/advice:

I am going to Hawaii (via LA) in January and want to book my ticket. Since I only started "The Game" recently, I don't have the miles I need to fly business both ways. With a few more cards waiting in the wings and plenty of miles on the way I should have the neccessary mileage in a couple of months. Does it pay to wait until I have that to book or can I book in Economy now and then upgrade to Business/First closer to the flight?

Up In The Air / Booking Ticket with AAdvanatge points
« on: September 23, 2011, 01:35:00 PM »
I have little/no experience booking flights using reward points and I was wondering if a flight in January (11-12) from NY to Hawaii is not available now with Business/First MileSAAver should I keep checking back every day to see if it becomes available or is there no chance of that happening?

Also, I'm going to be going to Hawaii with a stop in LA. I was thinking of flying direct business from NY to Hawaii and coach on the way back stopping in LA for a few days. Is that a smart way to do it or can I get better value a different way?

Up In The Air / What to do with AA points?
« on: September 21, 2011, 09:37:21 PM »
I opened up a Citi AA card a few months ago (before I saw the light and discovered the Dan's Deals Forums). I got 40K reward miles and have around 50k now.

From reading the forums, though, I have no idea what I can do with these points. They seem useless!

Any ideas or guidance? Please share.

Destination Guides And Trip Planning / Hawaii Trip
« on: September 21, 2011, 01:09:05 AM »
I've booked quite a few hawaii/west coast trips for people.

Dan--How do I get you to book for me? ;)

Seriously though, I want to go to Hawaii on my honeymoon this January. Is it too late to get in on some of the deals people have taken advantage of in the past? Not sure I have so many miles/points (just started with the 'game' recently) but I have a pretty decent sized budget.

Also, any recommendations about Shabbos? Which island is the best/most convenient and does it pay to plan my trip around that?

I am new to the site and have been spending the past 2 days reading up on the different CC deals and ways to maximize the bonus offers. I apologize in advance if some of my questions are addressed/were answered in other forums. Also, just some background info to keep in mind regarding my questions: I am 22yo just graduated college and beginning to work and getting married at the end of the summer. My goal is to buy a house in 2-4 years and I assume I need good credit to do that. So....

1. Is there any downside to applying for all these credit cards (credit rating, etc.)?
2. Can I/do you recommend applying for every single card (Citi, Amex, etc.) with a good deal available?
3. Once I am approved and open multiple cards can I cancel the cards once I reach the spending limits needed for the bonus and transfer the miles to one card? Is there any penalty for doing this?

Thanks in advance for the help and I am really sorry if these are annoying questions that have been answered multiple times already. If answers/info is already available please direct me to where I can read about it and I will do so.
