Tech Talk / My Laptop Was Stolen. Anything I Can Do?
« on: September 03, 2012, 10:58:58 PM »
So today was the Labor Day parade in CH, and someone walked into the house I'm staying at on eastern parkway, and stole my laptop. It seems that the cleaning lady didn't properly close the door when she took out the garbage. Whoever was home was upstairs, and when I came back, I found my laptop bag open on the floor next to the door, with the laptop gone. There was some valuable stuff on it. Would the perp be able to bypass the password and get in?

Up In The Air / Luggage Policies When Upgraded on First Leg
« on: August 26, 2012, 05:50:53 PM »
I did a search and didn't find anything about this. I have delta silver status. I'm flying LAX-SLC-JFK and got an upgrade on the first leg. When i checked in online, it says i have 3 free bags because i'm flying First. Just wondering, am I going to have any problems at the airport when i show up with 3 bags because only my first leg is first and I only got it bc of an upgrade, or as long as the first leg (or any leg?) is First, I'm subject to the policies of one who flies First?

General Discussion / MAZEL TOV DAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: July 10, 2011, 05:35:08 PM »
On behalf of everyone in the DD/DDF commmunity, we'd like to wish Dan and his wife a MAZEL TOV  on the birth of a baby boy!!!!

I recently signed up for 2 Chase cards, i got declined for one of them so far, and i'm still waiting on the 2nd one.
today, i got a call from 302-758-1000, and the woman on the line said she's from chase, calling about a credit card, and she asked me if i am <my name>, then she started asking me to verify my birthday, etc. I said i will not give you any information about myself because YOU initiated the call, and i can't tell if you are really calling from chase. so she said, well don't you have caller ID? so i said, plenty of people know how to fake caller IDs. so i said i'll need to call Chase myself. so she asked if i had a pen/paper to write down the number to call, i said no, and she said she'll call back later...

Has anyone ever gotten a call after applying for cards? and was it from this same number?

i'm looking for a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, package. i'd like it to be around $600, maybe a bit more, with at least 500gb hard drive and 6 or 8 gb ram. TIA

Credit Cards And Finance / Amex Platinum Companion Ticket Info.
« on: September 16, 2010, 04:00:14 PM »
from the main site seems that u can get a companion ticket when flying domestic. i just checked the amex website and spoke to an agent and they told me that the domestic companion program has stopped a few years ago. now, only if you fly international and have a business/first class ticket, only then can u receive a companion ticket...

i don't own a vehicle but i rent every once-in-a-while. the cash lines are always very long. does anyone have any experience getting an ez pass without owning a vehicle?

Hi. my brother bought a ticket on and when he got to the airport they told him that the flight was cancelled because there was a problem with the oxygen on the plane. he asked for a refund and conpensation (bc after all it wasn't weather related; it was their fault) and they said no, they are not giving anything. so he had to go and buy another ticket on a different airline.

what would be the best thing to do here? should we call the Amex or try to call the airline and see what we can get out of them?

Tech Talk / Getting a New Sprint Phone Via Total Equipment Protection
« on: March 07, 2010, 12:10:14 PM »
I've recently received an email from Sprint that for March only there's an opening that anyone can join their Total Equipment Protection for $7 a month.
i'm on the SERO plan (the old one) and my contract ended a while ago. I'm wondering if i sign up for this service and call back the next day and say my phone is broken, will they give me a new phone? is it really that simple?
or do i need to renew my contract before they give anything...

if anyone has any experience with this, please let me know. thanx

Tech Talk / VoIP vs. regular landline service
« on: February 05, 2010, 12:50:51 AM »
using voip is really great and very cheap, but I was wondering if there's a way I can make all the phones in my home connect to voip instead of regular service.
I know hooking up one phone is easy but I want my whole home hooked up...

has anyone tried this? or any info.
