Just Shmooze / The only one worth buying
« on: December 23, 2020, 02:48:16 PM »
Are there brands, or models/flavors within a brand, that you feel are the only ones worth buying? I'm thinking mostly in terms of food, but I'm including the term "models" because I guess it could apply to other scenarios.

For example:

Ben and Jerry's ice cream - ridiculously expensive, I don't see it being good enough to justify the price, except for their Phish Food flavor.

Chex Mix - the chocolate Turtle flavor...while I understand that taste is something completely individual, I cannot understand why people would buy the other flavors.

Hi, does anyone know good sources for certified N-95s that are reusable?

Also, does anyone know if some N-95s (re-usable or disposable) are more likely to be successful with fit testing than others?

For that matter, does anywhere here have experience with fit testing programs?

Hi, does anyone know any good sources other than DB electronics for kosher mp3 players (no radio, etc)?

Bought for my brother-in-law, who decided he doesn't want it.

Selling for $325. (This includes the tax paid).

I'm located in Passaic, but can get it to Brooklyn or the Bronx.

Tech Talk / Gameboys
« on: August 02, 2020, 10:50:11 PM »
OK, so...I was looking for a gameboy-type device for my kids and came across this:

Same idea as a gameboy, just running NES games, which I think are a bit more basic.

Was wondering if anyone has seen anyone do the same thing with gameboy and/or SNES games?

For that matter, using raspberry pi, someone ought to be able to pull a similar handheld game system that can run games from literally every system ever created. That might be difficult to do on a mass market level because of copyright issues, but is anyone familiar with anything like this out there?

COVID-19 Discussion Board / Buying used children's books
« on: April 26, 2020, 11:23:41 AM »
Anyone have any good tips? I'm currently going to ebay and trying to get for less than $1/book when buying anywhere from 20-50 books, but wondering if there are better options out there?

Kids are in the 7-9 age range, if that makes a difference.

Tech Talk / Old FIOS router

Got this about 3 years ago, and never ended up using it - is there any use for something like this, or just throw it out?

General Discussion / Immersion Blender
« on: November 29, 2019, 10:30:07 AM »
I got this Ninja Blender a while back:

It's having some issues, but they don't make that model anymore - looking around, I don't really see any similar, heavy-duty models.

Any suggestions?

Just Shmooze / Kosher Children's tylenol

Does anyone have information on this? The kosher agencies have lists, but it seems super-limited, and I'm not finding clear info on whether the major brands (name brand or generic) currently contain non-kosher glycerine...

Credit Cards / Best interest free card
« on: October 25, 2019, 11:50:03 AM »
Hi, asking for a friend (no, really) who needs an interest free card to transfer some balances to - his credit rating is ~620, which cards have the best chance for being approved and giving him the highest credit limit?

Anyone know which kosher restaurants are included? I tried searching "kosher," but the list seems pretty sparse.

Just Shmooze / Biltong vs. Beef Jerky
« on: May 21, 2019, 09:49:53 PM »
Just tried biltong for the first time - granted, it's the packaged Joburg brand, and the only beef jerky I've tasted has also been packaged, but so far the biltong seems way better to me (flavor and texture) than beef jerky.

What do most people prefer?

Also, aside from Joburg, do other companies make Biltong?

Deals/Deal Requests / Bulk chocolate chips
« on: March 04, 2019, 06:30:17 PM »
Hi, my wife does a lot of baking - anyone have recommendations for getting a good price on decent-to-good chocolate chips for a good price? Tried looking online, but even when buying 25-lb bags, price per ounce came out similar to my local grocery.

General Discussion / Amazon Buttoned down shirt too tight for tefillin
« on: February 15, 2019, 12:07:38 AM »
I got the slim fit, and it fits me nicely, but when I try to roll up the sleeves to put on tefillin, it cuts of my circulation, and even then I can barely roll it up enough to get it on!

Anyone have the same experience, or any solution?
