General Discussion / Buying Used car - Financing Options
« on: November 28, 2016, 08:38:51 AM »
Anyone here have any experience, with financing a used car?
What do the rates range? What are the mo/yr options?
Any recommended financing brokers?

Make a long story short, someone tried merging into my lane, swiped my car and caused significant damages.

We switched information and he "seemed" to be a nice guy. (I didn't call police, yes I know that was stupid).

I filled with his insurance company, after two weeks they got back to me that there is conflicting stories and they will not accept liability. (basically he lied, and said I went into his lane).

I called my insurance company, and they are paying me out minus my $500 deductible.

I would like to take the other driver to small claims to recoup the money, as I prefer not to have a claim on my record.

#1 - Do I have a right to claim the full money, after my insurance already paid out?
Or is it now in my insurances hand?

If I don't have a right, can I take sue him for the deductible, possible premium hike, and aggravation?

#2 - Do I take him, or do I take his insurance company, or both?

#3 - Do I take him to a NY court where I am from, or a NJ court where he is from?

Any input with experiences would be appreciated

Just Shmooze / No More Clutter--Get Your Free Penny Here!
« on: May 21, 2013, 03:05:37 PM »
Here is the Plan -

In this google doc, there are two columns.
One for people that would like to receive a penny, and one for people offering to send pennies.

If you would like to receive a penny , sign your name and patiently wait till your name is listed under a sender.
Once you see your name under a sender send him a PM with your email address.

If a box is gray, it means someone is already editing it - GO TO THE NEXT CELL.

-Do not send anyone a PM unless your name is listed under them being your sender.

If you would like to offer your services to send, simply copy the amount of names from the top of the list, highlight them so the next sender knows where the list is holding and copy them under your name.
Wait for them to send you a PM with their email, after you send them the money, highlight their names to show that you've sent them the money.

- There should be no need for individual threads.
- No need for SPAMing PM's to people to send you money.
- Wait patiently till you receive your money, don't harass your sender. He doesn't owe you anything)
- If your name is on the waiting to receive list, and you have already received, either highlight it or delete it.

Just Shmooze / Dans Deals is a chillul hashem ;)
« on: May 07, 2013, 12:09:02 AM »
So it seems like after last night seminar, people are starting to hear about a website called dans deals or something like that.

See what I just came across in YWN CR -

I have known about this for some time, but I don't know that I like how, specifically Frum based instructions for how to game the system. This fellow posts how you can save quite a bit on
flights to and from Israel, but it's technically not
quite Kosher'. He researches which cities in the US
are running cheap promotions to Israel. And since
all flights or most, go thru NY, he advised that you
can take a one way flight to say, Houston, then, start your international trip, Houston, NY, direct to
TLV or with a Euro stopover, and then return, he
tells that you can just leave JFK with your luggage.
This is all true, but it's not legal according that you have a contract with the airline to complete all
segments, just like you wouldn't be able to start the trip from JFK and not Houston. I think we all
know this already. My issue is if this is constitute a bit of a Chilull Hashem or not. Maybe b'Tznina, is one thing, if someone does it but to so publicize this, is a little embarrassing to me.

So after many threads with the same question asked over and over,

And so on...

Many thought it may be useful to have a Master thread where one can check if their exact case was asked yet, and if not they can ask it.

Tech Talk / Weird problem with External Hard drive
« on: February 17, 2013, 08:45:05 AM »
I am in the midst of producing a video with Adobe CS6.

I am running all the videos off of my WD 1TB external HD. The problem is, that at random points the hard drive decides to "space out" and even just opening a file directly from the HD can take 2-3 minutes. While to open any file that is saved directly on the PC would open instantly (like supposed to). Then after wasting an hour over it, it will start working again as usual.

Any ideas what the issue may be?

General Discussion / Does this classify under a scam, or is it legit?
« on: June 03, 2012, 04:27:01 PM »
A friend of mine went to a music store on Friday to purchase a music CD. The CD was for sale for $13. Biketzur the cashier offered my friend to download it to his iPod, without purchasing the CD for just $5.

Is this legit? To me it sounds like a complete scam on the cashier / store owners part, that they are selling the music and pocketing the cash. My reason to think so is, I highly doubt it costs the producer $8 just for burning copies of the cd. It probably doesn't even cost $1 for the actual printing/coping... It would kill the producers profits if they would allow such a thing!

Has anyone heard of this? Or is it a local scam? I told my friend they may as well just have copied it from me for free!

Tech Talk / help setting up a virtual phone number internationaly
« on: May 16, 2012, 06:45:25 AM »
I have an Israeli cell phone in israel, and I would like to get an american virtual phone number which all the calls can be forwarded to my Israeli mobile. Instead of people  having to call international using calling cards.

I having looked around, and the best rate I found was 0.06 cents a minute. No flat rate packages. I did find flat rate packages for landlines. But not for mobiles.

Anyone have any experience or knowledge in this field? I would prefer if tj solution was not through a app that should be used on a smartphone, as i prefer keeping my "kosher number".
