Up In The Air / Somewhere warm for Xmas/New Years from NYC?
« on: December 06, 2018, 02:43:56 PM »
Hi Forum,

I'm hoping to get away somewhere warm over Xmas. The date range is Dec 23-26 for outgoing, and Dec 30-Jan 1 for return.

Hoping to pay $400 for round trip. I have lots of AA and MR points, and about 80k Delta points.

Any suggestions?? I've researched a bunch of destinations (Miami, Cancun, Turks & Caicos, Bahamas) but they're super expensive ($800+).

Wondering if there are any tips and tricks I'm unaware of.

Up In The Air / Admirals Club - paid for but don't use
« on: December 06, 2018, 10:57:42 AM »
I did something really stupid, and signed up for a Citi AA card that included Admirals Club Membership, for which I paid $450 for the year. I then forgot about it. I noticed too late to cancel for the year, so I now have Admirals membership good through next September, and I don't think I'll use it.

Is this something I can sell?

Flying to MIA/FLL from NYC over Xmas.

Roundtrip cost (Delta or AA) is at a minimum $800.

AA points needed: 80k

Which option to go for?

Is there a *better* card to use while in Israel? One with less or no fees?

Credit Cards / best Delta card for upcoming flight?
« on: December 01, 2014, 04:45:54 PM »
I'm flying Delta in a few weeks, and want to get a card to be eligible for the best promotions available (free checked bags, points...). I don't care what card provider it is (Amex, Visa...)...just want the best deal.

Thank you!

Up In The Air / points or cash? How to decide

I'm looking at expensive flights over xmas week. I can use 160k AA points, or pay $975, for 2 tickets. What to do?

Thank you

Up In The Air / Should I use 13k TrueBlue points on magazines?
« on: November 27, 2012, 11:39:44 AM »
I have about 13k TrueBlue points expiring in about 10 days. What to do??

Hi Forum,

I'm currently in London, with a return ticket booked back to NYC July 31. I would like to change my plans and go to Israel for 1 week. I've played around with what my options are, and I don't know the best way to proceed.
My options:

1) I can change my original flight from LHR-NYC for a $300 fee. I can fly round-trip from LHR-TLV for appx $700, or 70k amex points, which I have.

2) Forget about my return flight from LHR-NYC.
     a) buy two separate flights. LHR-TLV $500/50k points, then TLV-NYC $800/80k points, totalling 140k amex points
     b) buy a multi-trip LHR-TLV-NYC for 200k amex points

I also have 50k delta points, 100k ba/avios points, 47k aa points.

Thanks for any suggestions!
