Up In The Air / Take advantage of the Turkish Lira for cheap tickets
« on: August 12, 2018, 04:32:20 PM »
Anywhere to take advantage of the Turkish Lira, taking a risk that the currency will continue to plummet (futures are down the toilet in Asia) and buy tickets in Lira now? What are the Turkish OTA sites selling in Lira?

If it works perfectly, you buy today, it posts on your CC in a few days and maybe the currency is down another third and you have a third discount.

I remember a while back that people risked it with Russia and it didn't work out. Probably has more support with Turkey.

Outremont (a borough in Montreal) voters voted yesterday to uphold an anti-Semitic bylaw to ban new houses of worship on the two remaining streets that still allowed it.

http://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/outremont-poised-to-uphold-ban-on-new-places-of-worship

Yes, you read it right. With the new bylaws upheld by the anti-Semitic masses, no new houses of worships (read: synagogues. 25% of the population is frum Jews. Not a single church has been built there in many decades and the few existing ones are collecting dust. I never saw anyone enter one in my life. No Muslims live in the borough.) can be built in Outremont. ZERO. EVER.

No, these are not conservative right-wing alt-right voters. They are uber-liberal rich elitist Frenchies.

Growing up in Outremont, this isn't the first or the last anti-Semitic bylaw that has passed. They come every year, whenever they see Jews happy about something, they will ban it. This is by far the most egregious one that I can remember.

Deals/Deal Requests / Please help me choose the right humidifier
« on: November 24, 2015, 02:39:12 PM »
This night was extremely dry in the northeast and it was very uncomfortable to sleep.

What humidifiers do you use? I'm looking for a single room.
Is cold or hot better?

This post comes after going over many of the products on Amazon extensively. I can't decide.

Just Shmooze / Municipal elections in Israel 10/22/13
« on: October 22, 2013, 08:03:14 AM »
I only care for the mayoral election in Bet Shemesh.

I couldn't care less about all other intra-Charedim wars all over. Including where Belz is involved in Bet Shemesh.

Municipal elections among Charedim have never been this nasty. Re: Elad, Bnei Torah etc.

The Jerusalem race isn't close IMO. Almost no competitive elections for Mayor outside of Bet Shemesh and Elad. Real races are for the city councils.
