(Because of the urgency, I’m opening a new thread. It can be moved to the main SA thread later)

I am on a delta flight to CDG right now and I have a second separate flight to JNB tomorrow night from Paris. My wife only has one (US) passport and when we told the delta check in agent that we were planning in continuing our trip to SA she checked my wife’s passport and said that they wouldn’t let us go since she only has one empty page on her passport and it is an “endorsement” page. We were able to take the flight to Paris since it was a separate reservation but now wondering if to go to the US consulate in Paris tomorrow to get an emergency passport?

Does anyone know if it is true that you need to have a full empty page and that it cannot be an endorsement page but only a “visa” page? (I never knew there was such a difference... in my European passports all pages are “visas”).

Our flight to JNB is with Air France if that matters.

(Another complication is that France has this rule about not being able to leave the country unless for specific reasons. I was hoping to have luggage through to JNB but now I’ll have to deal with customs about that)

I just found out about this. Apparently it is not new but in COVID chances are pretty high that most if not all flights have empty seats.

Travel in more comfort and security with Air France*, with our option to choose an extra seat with a 25% discount in the Economy cabin.
Air France will reimburse the entirety of your 2nd seat fare if there are unoccupied seats in your cabin.

I thought it can be useful to have a thread where it can all be posted.

Please don’t book trips just based on this list and research it further as rules can change. Another thing is that certain countries might only accept certain results.

What I heard so far:

Iceland, Cyprus, Estonia, Poland, Romania
Waving testing requirement for those vaccinated (unclear if Iceland requires the vaccine to be taken in the EU). EU passport required.

Georgia
Vaccinated people can enter.

Seychelles
Vaccinated people can enter with negative PCR test.

Israel - Greece bubble
Israel and Greece agreed to accept each other’s vaccinated citizen without limits or restrictions.

Up In The Air / Delta clearance to fly process
« on: February 04, 2021, 10:44:47 AM »
Please do not turn this into a debate wether to wear mask or not. This is in the “up in the air” section for a reason.

Now that there’s a federal regulation that kids 2 years old and up have to wear a mask, I was wondering if anyone has experience with the delta clearance to fly process? How complicated is it?

Also, is it a one time thing to get a waiver or you would have to get it every time you fly?

Thank you.

Goods For Sale/Trade / Surf air (private) passes
« on: January 13, 2021, 11:28:24 AM »
I have a few surf air passes available on any surf air or Jetsuitex scheduled flight. These are both “private” airlines where you’ll be joined with a few more passengers. Usually you need to pay for a membership plus ticket price.

1 - 375
3 - 1000

Flights are mainly from California but there’s also Dallas-Houston and JSX added a new route to big bend national park (lajitas) and some flights to Las Vegas as well as certain seasonal flights to places like aspen and Sedona.

Tech Talk / Get an iPhone 12 for $200 before taxes when you join t mobile
« on: December 12, 2020, 09:36:12 PM »
T-mobile is running an amazing promotion which takes off 830$ from an iPhone 12 purchase when you join t mobile and trade in certain iPhones.

The crazy part is that the iPhone 8 is eligible for the promotion and gets the full $830 off (if it’s in good condition).

If you don’t have an iPhone 12 you can purchase a refurbished one for around $200 and trade it in for an iPhone 12. You’ll just have to pay taxes (or the difference if you get a phone worth more then 830)

On The Road / Car rental search engine
« on: October 19, 2020, 08:37:36 PM »
Is there a way to search for car rentals over a large area? Like google flights would be best but even like Priceline used to do with searching up to 30 miles away

Hey everyone,

I just rented a car for 10 days from Hertz, picked up SLC downtown and returned at SLC airport. When I returned the car, there was salt around the tires, however the agent there looked around the car and didn’t say anything, closed the contract and gave me a receipt. About 10-15 minutes later when I was already inside the airport I get Another receipt by email with an additional $300 fee for exterior cleaning.

I called hertz and told them that they already closed the contract etc and that if they would’ve told me that there was a problem I would’ve gone and cleaned the car myself but both regular agent and supervisor said that since there’s a note that the manager came later and saw that there was salt on the car there’s nothing that they can do.

It is my understanding that once a rental company closes the contract, they’re agreeing that the car was returned properly and they shouldn’t be able to charge you after that (unless obviously it’s a ticket etc). Is this correct?

Any suggestion on how to proceed?

General Discussion / DDF - cute Hashgocha Protis story
« on: December 02, 2019, 11:47:23 PM »
Hey guys,

[This isn't a typical post and perhaps the mods can move it to another place.]

I don't usually post personal things here and never really created any relationship beyond the forums. It is actually pretty fascinating to know the range of people who are part of these forums, in the past two weeks I've sold things to an Asian guy working in Manhattan and an Indian guy from Delhi so yes really diverse!

So last week I was in touch with one of the members here to buy a camera from him and eventually, he came to drop it off by me. he told me that he was coming from BP so when we met I mentioned that we have a lot of family there and it comes out that he's actually my wife's cousin!! I later found out that his parents were at my L'chaim, wedding and more!!

What Hashgocha Protis!

I would like to also take the opportunity to thank the בעל אכסני׳ @Dan :)
