Destination Guides And Trip Planning / Winter Zika-Free Destinations
« on: October 26, 2016, 01:38:32 PM »
Given the planning it takes for yeshiva week in mid - end January, and also given the number of Zika infested destinations, what are some good, non-Zika warm weather destinations that people can recommend? I'm looking for destinations outside of LA, Arizona, and Hawaii. Thanks!

General Discussion / Vote for Rabbi Goldberg
« on: October 07, 2014, 04:11:42 PM »
Hello All-

Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg has been nominated as a recipient of CNN's top hero of 2014 list. Rabbi Goldberg founded "Kids Kicking Cancer" which helps kids use martial arts technique to fight the pain they go through fighting their disease. He's an incredible human being and his cause is even more incredible. I NEVER do this but with the power and reach of DDF and it's thousands of users, we can vote Rabbi Goldberg to the top. More information can be found here, or at

Credit Cards / Transferring Over Credit Lines
« on: January 20, 2014, 10:43:46 AM »
Can someone explain how to transfer credit lines from one card to another so as not to incur a hit to your credit? If I have a Chase Sapphire card, I clearly cannot transfer the credit to the Chase Ink card as it's a business card. What would I do though if I wanted to cancel the Ink card... Where would I transfer the credit?

Up In The Air / Transferring Starwood Points to Avios
« on: December 02, 2012, 08:39:37 PM »
Hello All

I need to transfer Starwood points to Avios as I understand to fly from NY to Toronto, it is only 9000 points RT. I also know that there is typically a 25% bonus on transferred points. If I transfer only 7200 Starwood points to Avios, will that net me 9000 points? Does anyone know if I need to transfer a minimum number of points, in general?

Looking for any and all guidance.

Up In The Air / El Al laying down the law
« on: October 29, 2012, 05:01:53 PM »
Due to the hurricane, my parents flight to Israel for Monday was cancelled. After 3 hours on hold, a customer service asked if she had a regular ticket or a "glitch" ticket. After asking what the difference was, he said that i should just answer him. When saying it was a glitch ticket, he immediately said sorry he couldn't help and could get them on a flight in a week.

In addition, until today, El Al was willing to refund tickets due to the hurricane but NOT the 75 dollar upgrade to a direct flight. After noticing the rule that ALL funds must be refunded if the airline itself cancels, they offered to do so.

El Al's customer service and despicable back pedaling after this glitch, especially using it to their advantage in a natural disaster, is sickening. Beware....
