Credit Cards / Credit repair advertised on DD main site
« on: February 11, 2013, 08:31:44 PM »
A while back there was an ad for a credit repair agency that deals with removal of negative items on the credit report that did not belong there, they had an offer that there was no charge because they charge the collection agency or something like that.

I am looking for their contact info, it does not come up in the search on DD.

I am helping someone with their credit report and there is a collection on there from a doctors office which never even sent a bill, and 30 days letter there was a collection agency letter and a collection on the credit report, it was paid off immediately but it is still on the report 2 years later and they are trying to get a mortgage and this is causing an issue with the credit score.

If you have contact info for a credit repair agency or any advice on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Up In The Air / Why are the airline points called "miles"?
« on: January 15, 2013, 11:09:36 PM »
I was recently explaining to someone who wanted to open a delta credit card that they should enter their current delta mileage number in the application so that the miles that they will be getting for their upcoming delta flight can all be in the same account.

She was very confused, she said she did not purchase the delta flight with a delta card, she used a chase card to purchase the ticket so why would she get delta miles? I then realized that she along with many people forgot about the actual concept of earning "miles" for miles flown, she was so excited to learn that she will be getting a few thousand miles for her delta trip (in addition to her chase "miles".)

I would estimate that 75% of miles earned are from credit cards. (This is based on my complicated algorithms and calculations based on the Boych Method).

Tech Talk / Benefits of using a CRM? (SugarCRM)
« on: January 02, 2013, 09:27:52 PM »
I am helping someone setup their online store with magento and I see that there is an extension to tie magento into sugarCRM, which got me wondering what were the practical benefits of using a CRM for a eCommerce site with less then 200 monthly customers (growing slowly so far), the site sells office supplies so there is a need to convert the customer into a returning customer.

Supposedly a crm is supposed to help you track sales and give you leads, but having never actually used one I am trying to understand the practical uses of a CRM? If you use a CRM how do you find it beneficial?

Tech Talk / Data Recovery - KrollOntrack vs Seagate Data Recovery
« on: May 29, 2012, 05:13:13 PM »
Would anyone happen to know which company is a better for data recovery?

http://www.krollontrack.com/ or http://www.seagate.com/about/contact-us/data-recovery/

Both are supposed to be top notch, but Kroll Ontrack has better PR and a nice site, they have some impressive recoveries like a harddrive from a space shuttle that exploded..

If anyone had any experience with either one please share.
