Credit Cards / chase sapphire
« on: March 22, 2011, 03:49:00 PM »
at first i applied for the chase Freedom CC, for the bonus of $100 cash back after $500. i then changed my mine and i wanted to change theCC to the Chase Sapphire for the bonus of 25,000 points after $3000. I contacted chase to see if they can change my CC for the Sapphire without making a new hard pull. They replied that they can but they can not offer me the introductory offer of 25000 points and first year free. i replied to them that they could if they really wanted (slightly more politely). they replied that they would offer me the first year free and 12500 points without any minimium amout charged to the CC, as it is a special offer and not the promoted offer.
my Question is, that as the promotion is only for first time account holders, will i be considered as if i already recieved the bonus.
bellow are their letters to me.

first letter

Credit Cards / maaser on miles and points?
« on: October 01, 2010, 04:40:16 AM »
Does one have to give maaser on the miles and points he has, by donating a tenth to charities?
i think the halacha is, that one does not need to give maaser from what he buys, but he must give maaser from things he receives for free.
i assume that one does not need give masser from miles one earned from purchasing airplane tickets, as one can consider it as if he bought the miles together with the flight. Similarly, miles one earns on his credit card from purchases at the standard rate, for example one mile per dollar, one also does not need to give maaser from them, as one can consider it as if he bought the miles together with the product.
However miles one receives as a sign on bonus, for example when they offer you 25,000 miles after yous spend $1,000, should we consider it a gift in which case you would have to give maaser. Or a purchase that when you buy $1,000 worth of items you are actually purchasing $1,000 of items and 25,000 miles for $1,000. Even if the latter option is true, does one have to give masser when one purchases items well below its value, as one can consider it a profit?
lets have an unbiased discussion on this subject

Credit Cards / continental merging with united
« on: May 30, 2010, 01:32:06 AM »
with forthcoming merge of united continental, i would assume their ff miles would also merge, so if you are able to get the 30000 miles on the continental cc and the 50000 on the united card all with the first year free, you would have a total of 80000 which is enough for a rountrip usa tlv.
