I bought these a few weeks back when it was on DDMS and they don't appear to be genuine, for a number of reasons. Does anyone else have the same experience?

There is a shipping center in Crown Heights that charges a $1 fee to drop-off a prepaid RS UPS packages. I'm trying to understand if this is against the contract they have with UPS as it states on "All return packages can be given to any UPS driver or taken to any location of The UPS Store®, a UPS Drop Box, a UPS Customer Center, any Staples® location, or any UPS Authorized Shipping Outlet. There is no charge to drop off a prepaid return package."

Most shipping centers do not charge for UPS packages, only for USPS since they don't get any $ from USPS for the service, however this is the first time I've been asked to pay for a UPS package that they are being compensated for by UPS anyway.

Anyone have any insight into this?

Credit Cards / Hard pull for adding Amex AU
« on: October 14, 2017, 09:51:24 PM »
I recently added an AU on my Amex green card, and lo and behold I receive an alert from my credit monitoring that Amex pulled my Experian credit report. I have since spoken to Amex a number of times, finally I got in touch we their credit bureau department and the indian guy told me that they are allowed to pull my credit for adding an AU. I mentioned this was never disclosed to me when I added the AU, he told me to send fax over my report with a letter stating that I was not informed about the hard pull. I have not done so yet, but I plan to since I don't need any extra pulls on report.

Has this happened to anyone else?

General Discussion / Every Dollar Budgeting Tool
« on: October 21, 2015, 07:34:02 AM »
I've been using Every Dollar for the last few months as a budgeting tool and wanted to share my experience. Every Dollar ( was created by David Ramsey and is supposed to be a simple way to track your finances and 'assign a job for every dollar'.

1. I like that things are kept simple - unlike other budgeting tools (YNAB, for example) I don't want to manage the balances across all my bank accounts and credit cards. Being a DDF user, I have many credit cards and much of my purchases (MS), I don't want showing up on my budget. This was a problem for YNAB since it expects you to have all your accounts in there and reflect exactly the current balance in the account. With Every dollar, there are no accounts and you just add the purchases you want. There is money coming in and money going out, thats it.
2. Web interface, unlike YNAB for example which is desktop based

1. Does not allow reporting
2. No android App
3. Does not allow exporting
4. Individual categories do not carry the remaining balance (the amount budgeted but not actually spent) from one month to the next unless you make that category a 'fund'. This requires you to either adjust the amount budgeted and the end of each month to exactly the amount spent or make the category a 'fund', otherwise the money is lost in there.

Anyone else here using Every Dollar?

Up In The Air / Reinstating expired US Airways miles
« on: April 30, 2015, 08:45:33 AM »
I'm trying to reinstate expired US Airways miles in an account which has since been converted over to a AAdvantage account. My question is, will the method Dan mentions of using an uncredited car rental work, and if so would I credit it to the old Divided Miles number or to the new AA Account?

It's 30K miles that expired on August 4, 2014. Also, if the car rental method would work, does anyone have a uncredited car rental from before 8/4/14?

General Discussion / Previous tenant uses my address
« on: April 27, 2015, 09:15:11 AM »
I  recently moved into a new apartment and the old tenant from over two years ago (who now lives in Israel) still uses my address for all his credit cards and bank accounts. In other words, my address is his US address. Just yesterday he got a new credit card sent over, I'm not sure how he plans on getting it. I think the first card has to be send to the caccount address, but perhaps he can call and ask to resend it to him in Israel.

In any event, I'm not comfortable that he uses my address for his accounts and I don't appreciate all the mail we get from him, any ideas on what I can do about this?

General Discussion / Overstayed Israeli 90 day tourist visa
« on: April 23, 2015, 06:23:13 PM »
The last time I was in Israel,  I overstayed my tourist Visa (3 months) by about 15 days this was in summer of 2012. When I left the woman at passport control was upset at and wrote something in my passport like "extended stay". My question is, will they make me issues on my next visit?
I plan to go for a week in May.

I have a Galaxy S4 and I have so far went thru about 4 car chargers but none of them are anything compared to my wall charger. When I'm using Google Maps these struggle to keep the battery level, forget about giving more percentage.

Each time I do some research I find another person saying how this one 'really charges fast' and I end up buying it only to find out it's like all the other ones, so if you can't relate to what I'm talking about please don't reply suggesting to buy the one you have since it probably doesn't either charge quickly maybe you don't notice...

I'm looking for someone who actually found a car charger that gives the same juice as a wall charger...or someone who can tell me there is no such thing and the only answer is an inverter.

I spend a decent amount of time searching online and didn't come up with any satisfying answers.

Up In The Air / Free bag flying US Airways on AA Award Redemption
« on: August 05, 2014, 02:56:42 PM »
I'm a n00bie when it comes to this section of the forum. (I did look for a master thread for this question first)

I booked an award ticket with AA Miles for a flight from HPN to LAX which has a stopover in DCA, the first flight is operated by US Airways-Air Wisconsin, the second flight is Alaskan. I have both a AA credit card with free bag and US Airways CC with free bag - so I am covered for a free checked in bag? and are there any steps I need to do to make sure the itinerary is connected to to the correct account?

I received a collection letter for an overdue medical bill that I'm going back a forth with my insurance to over.
Should I be concerned that they will report to the credit agencies for a delinquent account? The amount is $380.
