Just Shmooze / Re: Where Are You Posting From Now?
« on: December 29, 2017, 07:58:51 PM »
Hi all!  Anybody ever been to the Centurion Suite at Staples Center?  Wife is going with 11 family members tonight for the Lakers vs Clippers game at 7:30pm, and I wanted to know if anybody has gotten away with using multiple Amex Plats (3 primaries) to bring 12 total in.  She can use her Amex Plat Biz for up to 4 including herself, and I have 2 Plats, but I won't be able to go.  Hoping that there's dp on this, and that she gets to push them through.  We don't lie, so she would have to present it as it is.  I even gave her my ID to match the 2 Plats hoping that that works.  Or, if anybody is going tonight, can you get some of them in?  A total long shot, but worth a try...  Thanks in advance.

Wife and I have iPhone 5s'. haha  Looking to upgrade to better iPhones as we are done with our contract, but I don't know if I should stick with Verizon or jump ship to another company.  Any deals out there?

Right, and not much. But that's a more than $6,000 discount/mistake, so you're probably not going to get the answer you want.
After much push back, I got the Presidential Suite! 8)

I got shut down a few years ago and lost about 100k points
Just got a letter from some class action stating they sued chase for stealing points during AAs and won and are getting some type of compensation now for all "victims"
Funny that you bring that up.  Chase is allowing me to deplete my accounts and transfer my points out before 12/28/16.  I've also received my points from last statement from the 11/29 statement close date.  I've got a group member in a hack group on FB who is an attorney who is focusing right now on consumer arbitration cases, and we are going to see what we can get from Chase.  Will update.  He helped a few others with Citi A/A closures of which Citi does not give the points back at all. Was able to get client a few thousand dollars in lieu of the points even if client preferred the points, but Citi would not even consider giving the points back.  Go figure.  Not as much as the millions of points but something nonetheless.

Because I owed amex 17k, and it was reccomended to pay up first, so I hastily deposited everything I had into my account. MO's, structured checks...
Please elaborate on what you mean by "structured checks."

Yep. I had that too. Luckily they only shut down my checking account. B"H
When did this happen, and how did your cc's survive?  For me, the cards were taken out first for both my wife's and mine.  Checking/savings accounts will be closed effectively 12/28/16.  Did you also deposit MO in accounts??

There is your answer. Sorry man.
Had the feeling too, but they've been so general and won't give any details as to why we got X'd.  Have you heard of anyone recently getting it reversed?

Were you using the chase bank account for ms activities ?

Yes for like 3 months a few months ago, I deposited MOs which I had a feeling was a bad idea.  Coincidentally, I heard people were getting closed down for that so I stopped immediately.

I'd be absolutely shocked if they don't, especially when it comes to potentially "problem" customers.

(Actually, it's been confirmed that Hyatt does this. See prior Reddit and FT threads.)

Just to clear things up, Amex had the glitch for the last deal in Chile, not Hyatt.  Hyatt was definitely compensated by them.  I was using this as an example of booking in the US for travel abroad and it being honored.  So, this would technically be the first situation with Hyatt directly.

I'll update.

+1. Its unbelievable

FYI after calling up Chase lending services a couple of times, I got them to re-review my credit report and now my cards have been reactivated. This whole thing was beyond ridiculous, very time consuming, and quite aggravating. I never knew that Chase routinely checks credit reports using a hard pull for no reason, and then closes cards/reduces credit lines when they "see fit"
here's the weird thing: When i checked my online account, it showed all my cards reactivated INCLUDING the united card that I voluntarily closed down a few weeks ago  >:(

This mishigas just solidifies the negative feelings i have towards Chase

I know this is 5 years later, but who exactly did you contact?  I'm going through the same thing without notice.  They shut down wife's and my accounts last week.  I was able to transfer out my points, but I'm still working on the ones from last statement.  My main goal is to get it reinstated like yours.  How did you do it?  What did you say/do to have them reinstate???  Please advise.

Were you joint account holders on anything?

Yes for one checking account and AUs for each others ccs.  For future reference, I would keep everything separate for banks that you have ccs with especially big banks, and just deposit MOs in credit unions or smaller banks.  This way they don't cut all of your legs at once.

How long is the stay? At a discount of over $1,550 per night, they're probably not going to care much that you aren't going to recommend Hyatt to some friends. (And if you did the same thing last year, the odds are good that your account has been noted thusly.)

4 nights; still doesn't hurt to ask.  What else can be done?

Best of luck in the Indian courts.

You win some, you lose some. If this was a U.S. hotel, they might honor the mistake or give you a big discount to avoid a lawsuit and/or social media backlash. Never know, but a hotel in India is unlikely to do the same.

I figured the same, but I was hoping that since I bought from the US that we would have some kind of consumer protection.  My thoughts are to write up a nice response that states that I want to create a long lasting relationship with Hyatt, explain the reason for travel (anniversary), and how I will not be recommending Hyatt to friends and family should they not honor the rate.  Doesn't hurt to still try.  If they deny the request, I should still have the option to cancel as I am not getting what I purchased.

Credit Cards / Chase Shutdown w/o Notice

Chase gave wife and me the axe without notice on the 11/29. All 7 ccs including Ink. Still have checking accounts intact but only until 12/28. Thank goodness I was still able to transfer UR out. Anyone have any pointers when contacting exec office or if there is even a way to get reinstated?  I was told to contact them.  I know a Chase banker who gave me the direct line, and she spoke to compliance for me.  They say there is nothing that we can do, and there are no details to why we were shutdown, but I wonder if anybody here has gotten out of it.  I thought they were supposed to do a financial review before doing anything.  Member since 2006.  Help!
