Credit Cards / Re: Chase Reconsideration
« on: February 12, 2020, 11:38:11 AM »
I got an ink a couple month back, and they wanted proof of address. Not sure if it's a new trend, or if some of us are just special...

I think it must have something to do with the fact that it was a second Ink for the same business (which they didnít have a problem with once I explained that it was for a separate line of business, tracking different expenses, yadda yadda), but when the first card was set up back in 2014 I donít think they really collected all of the necessary demographic info and I think USA PATRIOT makes them get more info now. I also noticed that the business registration with the state had an outdated address (which Iíve already submitted a correction for), so that mightíve annoyed them also.

I called again today and they hadnít yet processed my faxed info yet but told me without telling me that the only thing holding up the approval is the address/identity verification stuff, so Iím not at all worried, just a paperwork annoyance and lost opportunities to catch some deals. ;D

Put in an application for Ink Preferred on 1/27, called them a few times on 1/27 and 1/28, they put me in Ďsecondaryí. Unchanged until today, when after two HUCA attempts I was told that it was declined unless I could verify a bunch of personal and business info, basically they want proof of my physical and mailing addresses for personal and business. Just fired off a 10-page fax, I expect to be approved once they finish going through all of it, they told me 2-3 business days.

I don't think these jacks ever get over the $50 price

I believe that. Still, not a bad price.

Up In The Air / Mileage run-ish?
« on: October 23, 2018, 06:05:03 PM »
I want to earn a minimum of 2,955 EQM before the year is up, to maintain my AA status.

Iím based out of PHL, willing to spend some money/points and time sitting on planes to nowhere, but having difficulty planning routes that are economical in both price and the EQMs they generate, while not keeping me anywhere overnight (start and end the day in PHL). Iíve been playing with generating multi-hop routes through one or more of AAís hubs, but everything I turn up seems to just be prohibitively expensive.

Any thoughts/ideas on how to best approach this?

Alright, so how do I figure out what the mileage for those segments is? GCM?

PHL-LHR I 3545 * 1.5 = 5317 EQM
NCE-LHR J 647 * 1.5 = 970 EQM
LHR-PHL I 3545 * 1.5 = 5317 EQM
PHL-FLL G 992 * 1.0 = 992 EQM
FLL-PHL S 992 * 1.0 = 992 EQM

So Iíll earn 13588 EQM, leaving me with 20048 EQMs, so a day late and a dollar short.

Check my math? :D

It seems like I either need to fly more on AA this year (a possibility), or try for a challenge. Please correct me if Iím wrong.

Up In The Air / Will I reach AA status?

I have some travel planned for this year that Iím going to credit to AA (unless thereís a better program to credit to that will get me OneWorld status?) and Iím trying to figure out if either my planned travel will get me to Gold (I just want free checked bags without having an AA CC), or if I should look into a challenge.

Iím based in PHL so AA is usually going where I want to go. I had a Platinum promo/challenge a couple years ago but Iíve never applied for a challenge otherwise.

My AA YTD:
EQDs: 774
EQMs: 6460
EQSs: 4

My planned travel (everything is non-award, and all within about three months):

BA PHL-LHR in I
BA NCE-LHR in J
BA LHR-PHL in I
AA PHL-FLL in G RT S

I suspect I might get there based on just the miles flown plus dollars spent, but I couldnít find any conclusive information about what Iíll be earning for the BA travel in business.

Destination Guides And Trip Planning / Transatlantic Business: BA or AA?
« on: January 24, 2018, 12:17:38 PM »
I have upcoming travel where Iíll be flying roundtrip from PHL to LHR in business.

Can anyone tell me whether they prefer BA or AAís cabins on those planes?

Iím currently looking at BAís cabin on their 744 and 789 (the two planes Iíd be flying) and it doesnít look too shabby. Would AA be better or worse?

Sweet, thanks!

My favorite AA mileage run is probably from NYC to HKG round-trip on AA metal which can be had for as low as $590 occasionally and for $765 over the next couple of weeks. You'd need to spend the weekend in HKG though and it's more expensive from WAS. For something shorter and cheaper though I'd copy and paste airport lists info ITA matrix and filter to AA fights (unless I was searching premium cabins in which case I'd filter to all Oneworld flights or whichever airlines are eligible for the challenge).
Probably shouldíve mentioned home base is typically PHL, although obviously NYC isn't problematic. Not sure I have the time or desire to visit HKG right now. I suspect I have enough on-AA-metal revenue activity already that it doesnít matter where I credit the remainder from, so Iíll play with the ITA matrix, thanks!

Up In The Air / AAdvantages?

Hi all, looking for some advice. I recently received AA Platinum with an accompanying challenge to earn 12,500 EQMs by September 9th, to keep the status until January 2018. I don't fly much, but most of my flights these days are short-haul AA flights on T fares (Dan's favorite BA award, IIRC), and Iíve been enjoying the status enough that I'd like to try and keep it.

I'm aware that AA's award chart has gone to crap, but I get a lot of value out of the expanded seating chart usage, occasional free upgrades, priority boarding, and free checked bags. I'd apply for a Citi card, but I doubt I'd be approved for anything right now (take my word for it), unless Citi's approval criteria is easier than I recall it being.

So, any advice on how to cheaply rack up the EQMs? I currently have ~2500, so only need ~10k. Don't mind going for a mileage run, but don't want to spend a ton of money on it.

One way/Round trip: Round trip
Non-stop/Maximum stops/Any: Prefer non-stop but willing to make one stop
From: PHL
To: FLL
Departure dates: 8/7/2015
Return dates: 8/9
Class: BusinessÖ?
Seats: 1

I have a decent amount of UR to work with, and some actual flown miles on American and United.
idk if this is a thing that people do, but Iím willing to offer a $20 cash (or equivalent) reward for helping me find this.
