Short stopover, not leaving the airport - anyone have success ordering in advance and getting one of the restaurants to deliver to the airport?

Are you only looking for perks in terms of miles/points? Or also discounts, buy one get one frees, etc.?

Anything. A review. Something. (NOT El Al)

We used a 'baggo deposito' to store our stuff until our Airbnb allowed us to come. It was efficient and felt safe.
[BTW, to speak Italian, add an 'o' to the end of any word.  :D ]

Thanks, lol - did you use a particular one? Or they are plentiful? I imagine there are quite a few, and we're not the first people to have this issue. :)

1. Would you use the myTaxi app to go from the airport to the Ghetto with 5 people and luggage? Or just go to the Taxi stand? Or something else?

2. Would you use myTaxi to go from the Ghetto area to Termini train station (with the same 5 people and luggage, G-d willing lol)?

3. I'm going to see if I can work it out with the hotel, but assuming I can't for some reason, any experience with bag storage facilities in Rome, for holding on to the bags from hotel checkout in the morning until departure in late afternoon? For instance: https://www.stowyourbags.com/en/shop/rome/luggage-storage-navona-campo-de-fiori-pantheon-rome/?

Or BagBnB: https://bagbnb.com/luggage-storage/rome

I've had better luck with Discover at gas stations (though you can probably forget about the spend being categorized correctly for rewards) in terms of the limits, which stop the pump before you are full.

I have found that YMMV on the enforcement of the TZ number requested at the pump.

But of course, this is a tangent from the OP.

Looking for current recommendations (end of 2018) for Israeli credit cards with any kind of reasonable benefits (points or perks) to warrant picking them up.

Note: Please don't flame me that US cards are better and I should use US cards with no FX fees. That's all fine and good - and I do that - but there are still some horaat keva or other purchases for which an Israeli card is at least easier, if not downright required, and I'm looking for a way to at least get some additional benefit from those payments.

Also, if at all possible, helpful responses will avoid using the words "El Al."

Thanks very much,

Yeah, I hear Nov is better than Dec, which is better than Jan for Mauritius weather.

@Dawie - appreciate the perspective, and the advice about going earlier than later is well taken.

@jomaster28

Wow - insanely good TR, and crazy stories. Love how adventurous you both were, memories for a lifetime indeed!

Looking at Mauritius for a winter trip, RT from Israel, but after reading your TR, I think I need to look closer at SA!

In Mauritius, it sounds like you guys lucked out on the weather - did you mostly chill in the hotel there, or explore around? Was it crazy humid, even if you avoided rain? (Yes, yes, I've been looking all over the internet, and I probably know the average temps for Mauritius better than I do for my own backyard, I'm just asking what someone's own experience was.)

Any info would be great, thanks.

We were there last week, the week after 9 Av. I'll try to post a TR if I have the time, but I've edited the wiki in any case on a few points.

In terms of the restaurants, they are both expensive, as you would expect from seasonal "destination" kosher restaurants, but the fleishig was surprising excellent, both the food and service, and we were there literally their first night, with a pretty steady crowd. I hope they do well, what a pleasant experience! The milchig has been open all season (at least). You order at the counter and sit inside or on the back porch, and they use those buzzer things to tell you when to come in and get your order. The night we were there their service was horrible, we had to wait an hour plus for any food to come out at all with almost no one in the place, and they forgot half the orders. The foot was only barely passable. Not a lot of pride here, unfortunately. There was no option to get anything like a bottle of tap water for the table at all, buy it or stay thirsty. Oh, and they wanted us to tip when we ordered, despite no wait staff. (You might be better off with a to-go breakfast or lunch from them, I wouldn't know.)

Package of 6 large, moist OU-D blueberry muffins at a local supermarket for 6 CAD....

Minyanim are "8:30am hodu" and 15 min before sunset Mincha/Maariv, though it seemed like there was an earlier morning minyan from the number of people leaving when I was arriving. We still had 40-50 men for shachris each morning I was there.

Thanks,
