Credit Cards / Re: Chase Sapphire Reserve

You can't get approved for a new application if you currently have a sapphire card. But you can have as many sapphire cards as you want through upgrading.
Is there a reason that I would want to pay the AF for both cards?

I believe you wanted to stay with the reserve no? So downgrade get the Preferred Sb then upgrade back to the reserve. Am i missing something?

I thought I'm not allowed to have more than one Sapphire product.  Isn't that why I have to downgrade the CSR so that I can apply for a NEW CSP and get the SUB? If I tried to upgrade the Freedom back to a CSR then I would have 2 Sapphires.

You can upgrade back the card that you downgraded

Downgrading so that I can apply for CSP with SUB, why would I upgrade back rather than apply for new card?

What do you have already? The bonuses are good now. So, you might want to sign up for a new one 1st, if you don't have it already. If you already have them all, the category ones are better, because you double the limit.

I have 2 regular Freedoms (the ones with categories) I don't have any freedom unlimited, but I still want to downgrade this CSR so I don't think I want to sign up for a new Freedom, especially since I'm planning on getting the CSP once I downgrade.

one year rule is only for new accounts
So if I already have Chase cards then I can upgrade right away even though this will be a new card?

Unless things have changed, you should not have to move them as they will be kept alive (at a lower value) with a freedom, and the value will then increase when moved back to a sapphire card. The only issue I'm seeing here, is upgrading the Sapphire Preferred to the reserve right away. I believe there is a 1 year waiting period for that upgrade.

Thanks.  So when I upgrade I would have to pay $550?  Also which Freedom is better to downgrade to?

can someone help me figure this out.

Got AF Sept 5th
Received SUB Oct5 2016

Move my points over to the the Ink so I dont have to spend it (not sure if I need to do this)
Downgrade Reserve to Freedom (get AF refunded) prior to Oct4
On Oct 6th apply for sapphire- Spend the requirement, receive 80K SUB
Upgrade to Reserve- move points back there.........

I have a similar situation.  Do I need to move points to the Ink?  I don't have one but my spouse does.  Which Freedom is best to downgrade to? I already  have a Freedom.

At the time I tried to reserve my rooms in a single hotel (category eight) there wasn't availability for all of the nights I wanted.  Eventually I was able to get all of the nights I wanted, but it was on 4 separate reservations.  Because there weren't 5 nights on any of the reservations they would not give me the 5th night free.  The hotel said that they would combine the reservations on their end so that I wouldn't have to change rooms in the middle of my stay but they couldn't combine it so that I could get the 5th night free!

I would like to fly to Israel nonstop in business class from NYC. What are the best points/miles to accumulate for this and which airlines should I be looking to book through? Thanks

Depends on how much the flights cost. But with BA you can cancel up to 24 hours before your flight and just lose the taxes.

That's what I'm asking, can I cancel by booking it any other way, or is BA the only option?  Don't think I'm getting a great value either way.  Just want to be able to cancel.

I have not used Avios in a long time.  Is it better to book American flights directly with Amex MR points or to transfer to Avios and book through British Airways?  It seems as if it will be the same amount of points, but I would like the ability to cancel.

How does Amex calculate Marriot points. It doesnít seem to be calculated properly.  Is there somewhere that I can see how the points were earned, itís not matching up with what I believe it should be

Do I have any recourse if Marriott is playing games with my reservations made before the categories went up? They cancelled one reservation and points went up on others and nobody is willing to help. I have printed reservation confirmations.

Iíve been told by a Ritz Carlton hotel manager that the categories are changing on Jan 31. Has this date been confirmed?

How can I save multiple offers?  When I have all of the screens open for multiple account holders and click on one offer the screen seems to freeze.
