Depends on the location, anywhere from $0-$20+

Thank you.
Will paying the taxes and fees activate my credit card's car rental insurance?

How much do taxes and fees come out to when booking a 1 day (one way) rental with hertz points?

Pickup location: JFK
Drop Off location: LGA
Pickup date & time: 4/8/19
Drop Off Date & Time 4/9/19
Preferred Car Size: even compact will suffice
Age (if under 25): over 25
Best quote:$52 (Avis).

I also called Hertz to inquire about using points. They said it would cost 1100 / 1325 points + $32 taxes and fees. I don't have much use for my Hertz points but with those kind of fees, it's rediculous.

Listening now to the Brenner interview for the first time.

A few takeaways so far.

1. I say um too much.
2. It does sound like AT is personally involved in $50MM+ of these cases, though which side for each is unclear.
3. AT says disputing can get you in criminal trouble as you affirming under oath that you don't recognize the charge, but an initial chargeback isn't an affirmation under oath. Of course it may come to that, but it should not be hard to at least initiate a chargeback without those repercussions.

If you made 1 mistake, it's that when the question was addressed to you and AT asked if he could answer, you allowed him to. You would have done a better job.

There were often some people after a DDS who spoke up with tough questions. The worst I can remember was actually in CLE at a regional kinus hashluchim about hidden city ticketing and it caused a nasty fight in the room.

Would love to hear more about this (the HALACHIC perspective on hidden city). To my mind it MAY even be more questionable than taking advantage of a price mistake. (IINM, I have read all your posts about this). I am no expert in choshen mishpat, and i have no sympathy for the airlines but I am trying to work this one out. If you have any mare mekomos or names people who have researched this, please do send my way.

Credit Cards / Re: United MileagePlus Explorer Card

Any confirmation on this?

Dan's language here is also not 100% clear.

If I am understanding correctly, if I book 8 people on the same reservation on a UA basic economy using my UA explorer card, we will be entitled to 8 full size carry on bags + 8 personal items + 2 free checked bags. Is this correct?

From Twitter:

I have a United Explorer card from Chase bank.
If I book a party of 8 passengers on a domestic flight on a basic economy fare, will all passengers on the same reservation as me be entitled to a free full size carry on?
Additionally, will me and 1 other passenger be entitled to a free checked bag?

 United Airlines
Hi there. Thanks for reaching out to us. Yes, you and your companions on the same reservation are all eligible to bring a full size carry-on, as long as the bag doesn't exceed 45 linear inches even with Basic Economy fares. The first checked bag for you and one companion traveling on the same reservation is free of charge. Please know that you need to purchase your tickets using your United Explorer card. Let us know if you have further inquiries.
