Credit Cards / Re: United MileagePlus Explorer Card
« on: November 07, 2019, 12:28:55 PM »
Any ideas on comparing an offer of 25k plus $250 (that pops us when I'm booking a ticket) vs an offer on the united app of 40k plus 10k after spending $5,000? I don't normally travel international, and mostly use united for basic economy fares that go for around $100.

Where 40+10k offer? I have only seen $250 + 25k or 40k.

Yup, transferred from chase!

Did you do the same for return trip on AA? I just signed up for AA card.

I am going to PTY in Jan, flying there with UA (I have a United explorer card) and back with AA (I have their citi AAdvantage card) both tickets were booked with airline points. Do I getting free luggage for them?

May I ask how you got enough miles for multiple tickets using UA card? I just signed up with a 40k bonus, which is good enough for only 2 x 1 tickets.

AFAIK Depends on card used for paying taxes/fees.

Which miles should I accumulate to go to Europe (France, Italy, Spain, Greece) in August? Business class not necessary.

Maui #1
As for the second Island maybe Kuai

thought those 2 are quite similar (outside of $$$ activities) - lots of beautiful nature, snorkeling, beaches...

Was thinking about BI/Maui or BI/Kaui combo. Want to have as many different opportunities as possible, is why am pushing to visit 2 islands.

Don't have time to research islands before booking flight so will have to decide based on user posts. Wont be doing any big hikes since have 2 yr old and we're not in our peak physical shape :)

This has been discussed 24-72 times in this thread already, but in that time frame, I'd just go to the BI (moving between Hilo and Kona).  Really want a second island, spend a night in HNL on the way to the BI and go to Pearl Harbor.

I've been to the BI 3 times with a 2 year old.  Absolutely recommend.  There are plenty BI TRs with kids on here for you to peruse.

To simplify things, fly into and out of ITO.

"In that time frame"? Will be in Hawaii for almost 2 weeks, 8 full travel days not counting Shabbos or arrival/departure days.

So it's decided. We are going to Hawaii for January [Sunday-Thursday morning, giving us 8 full days to roam] with a 2 year old.

Just need help in deciding which 2 islands to go to and only have 24-72 hours to decide.

Let the ideas flow. Thank you

2 rooms somewhere? don't have the 70-100k/night to do this idea

You can probably sneak a 6th person into your aforementioned choices if you're not picky on number of beds.
thinking about doing this at residence inn except that all beds are crammed in 1 big area. don't know about anyone else, but there is no way I could put my little boys to sleep if they see anyone walking around the rooms

any suggestions where a family of 6 can stay (besides $200+/night Airbnb)? have UR & marriot points, but can apply for wyndham, IHG, Hyatt, Hilton cards if necessary. Not need fancy place.

Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas = max occupancy 5

Why would you fly 15 hours when you just want to go somewhere warm and peaceful??

would be like 9.5 hrs there and 11 back if choose HI.

I edited my above post to explain why even spend 10 hrs on airplane. In short its because I am hoping for a trip from Sunday - Wednesday night (11 days). Can save closer locations for my usual 1 week off in winter.

Would prefer going to the further away locations (travel time 17-24 hrs) if not bringing along a 2.5 year old. I figured 10 hr travel time is doable.

Go somewhere closer.

LOL. I actually wanted to places like Fiji (or similar), Thailand, Philippines etc... and thought Hawaii would be compromise since is so much closer. Closer locales like Costa Rica/Mexico I figured can more easily be done when only have a week to vacation (normal winter).
