COVID-19 Discussion Board / Re: A Silver Lining to COVID-19
« on: March 12, 2020, 09:32:34 AM »
I don't know about anyone else, and I'm empathetic to the folks on the ground having to take unpaid leave, etc., but after years of devaluations and cutbacks, I'm experiencing tremendous schadenfreude at the airlines' current COVID predicament, particularly Kirby and Co. having to deal with the mess that comes with addressing a 70%+ decline in bookings.

Canceled two upcoming domestic trips.

Don't panic at all was clearly the point. Those who panic are actually the selfish ones
Those that don't acknowledge scientific facts are the ignorant and dangerous ones.

? You should probably re-read
You should read his other posts. His point about the virus is clear. It is obvious who he gets his info from.
"Mom there is no risk to me but to bad you and Dad can die from catching it from me."
64 year olds catch it from 20 year olds.

Meanwhile places with maybe treating also have overloads on their healthcare system.
We are not prepared for this. The worst thing we can do (according to the experts) is not test.

How do you plan on implementing massive testing without risking further spread due to the testing?
By taking the proper precautions. Leave it to the medical experts. Risk vs reward.

In what way?
Like the comment about 15 cases will soon be zero. Just yesterday he still thought this was the flu. His speech tonight at least to me seem to come across as he now gets the seriousness of this. Restricting travel from China was a no-brainer. Now from Europe is a major move.

There are so many different variables that it will be impossible to know the best response until it is hindsight. Even then it will be speculative.
You need massive testing and then quarantine where needed.

MLB next?

This is not the first travel ban instituted due to the virus
True but his approached has now changed. Hopeful he will project the same seriousness to the country as the medical experts are doing.

He was nervous because it was the first time in his life he actually followed the script. He did get a little excited though when he said "50 billion".
Have a feeling the announcement was pre-recorded just in case he coughed. His breathing was intense though.
Reading from a script is his weak point. He needs to freelance.

Is that really going to make a difference at this point? Should have been done 30 days ago.
Yes it should have been done already but it will still help.
The main takeaway is the President now seems to understand how serious this is. He was extremely nervous delivering this speech.

Isn't it time to put the glass (hate) down?
