Credit Cards / Re: Banks in Lakewood
« on: March 12, 2020, 04:12:50 PM »
I know there has been some discussion of this in the Lakewood thread, but I think this is the correct place for it.
I've been banking (personal & business) at TD, and everything was fine. All of the sudden, I got a letter that they are closing all my accounts. No explanation. Branch manager was clueless and unhelpful. Waiting for a call back from the 800 #.
Meanwhile, has this happened to you? Any idea what this is about? I didn't do anything remotely shady.
Also, any thoughts/experiences about where to open up now? It seems that there is loshon hara about every bank that I read about.
Thanks.

I received the same exact letter yesterday!

I've been with TD for 5+ years and carry fairly large balances.

If you're able to cancel the rest of your reservation (and you have some extra SPG points to burn) Do yourself a favor and head down to the Westin Lagunamar. There is avaiability this week.

Just checked in to the Westin lunganamare, coming from staying 3  nights at the Zilara, this is a huge downgrade

IYHO Is it worth the extra 15K ppn for the Hyatt Zilara over the Westin Lagunamar?

Thanx!

I was looking at vacation packages on priceline, and saw some pretty decent places @ great prices (much less than $500)

Anyways,  how is the westin with plats? Do they generally upgrade to suites?

I was referring to the Westin Lagunamar when i said $500+ (cheapest you'll get for next week is about $450 per night after T&F)

There's two basic room types, studio villa and one bedroom villa. (2 Bedroom Villa is just 2-one bedroom villas attached)
You might get upgraded from Studio to 1 bedroom. More than that is unnecessary unless you're traveling with kids.
(Besides upgrades are pretty limited in resorts.)

Hi,  I'm looking to book a trip to CUN in the very near future.

I read through a big part of this thread.

It seems that the westin Lagunamar is very popular here.

Is that just bec it's an spg hotel? Or is it really nicer than the other hotels there?

Also,  how far is Lagunamar firm CUN? Is it a different town?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanx!

There definitely are nicer hotels in Cancun (Hyatt Zilara and others...), but at 10K SPG points per night vs. $500+ it's a real bargain.

Uhmm the Westin Lagunamar is smack in middle of Cancun!

My Tripit says that flight arrived late. Are you referring to the flight from phl-yyz on 12/10?
That flight was canceled, I think most passengers from that flight were rebooked onto another flight the next morning.

I booked ORD-PHL-TLV-PHL-YYZ back in August for $302. Thank you Dan!  :D
I just landed back in PHL on Tuesday morning (Dec. 10)
My flight to YYZ was supposed to be a few hours later, which I obviously had no intention of taking!
(Special Thank you to "Jaywhy" for reminding me to remove my luggage tags at the carasoul...)
An hour or so after I landed I got an email from US Airways that my PHL-YYZ flight had been canceled, due to the bad weather on the east coast...
So I call 'em up...and they offer me to either reschedule my flight to YYZ, or receive a refund...!!
I obviously chose the latter!  :)
The refund didn't post yet, but rep said it should be about $160.
Sooo in the end: I got myself a round trip direct flight to Israel for Chanukah , 13,000+ miles, and star alliance gold status (Aegean), all for about $140!!   :P

Update: I called in and the rep confirmed that I hit the spending required but that it takes 1-2 billing cycles for the bonus miles to post and that she can't  expedite them. Does this make sense?
it's not unheard of, though very often the miles will post sooner than that.
