Looking for a room 8/15 (Wed night).  See Fountainbleu for $192 and Confidante for $106.  Which is a better deal/recommendation? Any way to get out of $50 Fountainbleu parking charge?

Looking for a Cat 1-4 free night award (ideally on a Globalist account) for August 16.  Anyone selling?

Yes you can purchase an anniversary night from someone on DDF. They will make the reservation in their name and add you on as an additional guest so you could check in.

If you do not feel comfortable doing this you can use 15K hyatt or chase points of your own as well.

If you buy a globalist night they should be able to give you a suite upgrade and free parking so that might be even better but it would run you about $150

Thank you

No 8/16 marriott would not adjust it down. It has to be after 8/18.

I would look into the confidante hotel. It is a nice boutique hotel on the beach and can be had for a hyatt anniversary night which should cost $110-$125 it is also close to many kosher restaurants and is in a good location.

Thanks.  Less familiar, do you mean purchasing a hyatt anniversary night from someone on DDF?  Do they then need to make the recommendation?

make the reservation now at the current price. On 8/18 the price will go down. Call Marriott awards to have them adjust it to the lower price.

is it before 8/18 or after? Will you be spending time at the hotel or going around and doing activities?

Would be staying night of 8/16.  Visiting family elsewhere in Florida, but getting away for one night with my wife when babysitting is available.  Maybe interested in activities, but might just hang out at the hotel/beach.

I see its 30K SPG points on the website, would Marriott adjust it down to 60K Marriott (i.e., 20K SPG)?

Thanks for the help.

Would you say the Marriott is shabbos-friendly? How was the kosher breakfast? I'm looking into staying there in a few weeks for a long weekend.
Thanks!

To order kosher breakfast, email: mhrs.amsnt.guestrelations@marriotthotels.com.  Cynthia Bosma is the Guest Relations Officer and extremely helpful.  Make sure to put in a good word for her - the more positive feedback, the happier they are to help with our needs.

Also, if staying for shabbos, for meals you can either go to Chabad or contact Lea Beck (whatsapp: +31 6 16 06 84 40) who's the hachnasos orchim coordinator for the local Amsterdam community.

Haven't had a chance to post my trip report yet...

I would definitely say it's shabbos friendly.  I emailed the hotel that I was a sabbath observer and they put me on the second/third floor (the lowest floor with rooms).  They were more than happy to accommodate, plus the concierge opened the room for us multiple times over shabbos when asked/hinted to.  The only issue is that there's no manual doors to enter the hotel (all entrances are electronic/automatic), so you need to wait for someone to go in/out and follow.  Ask your LOR.

Kosher breakfast is simple but solid.  Each breakfast came with 3 delicious rolls, some type of fruit, spreads (cheese, nutella, jam, butter), and a small piece of cake.  Sometimes lox or a bit of tuna was included.  Non-cholov yisrael except for some of the cheese, if that applies.  The lounge also has a plethora of kosher drinks (soda, beer, kosher chocolate) and fruit, which was helpful.  If staying there, make sure to email the hotel with a few days notice so they can place the order. See attached pic.

Element far away from tourist/town center areas.

Regency recently opened up, maybe within past 6 months (2 blocks outside of eruv if that matters).  Don't know much about it.

I just stayed at Marriott - excellent experience there, can have kosher breakfast ordered if you're an SPG Gold or above.

Will be spending shabbos in Amsterdam on 6/24-6/25 with wife and newborn.  Planning to eat at the chabad Friday night.

I'd love to have a non-touristy, "authentic" meal shabbos day - is it a bad idea to Rav Aaron Schuster Synagogue / Obrecht Shul and hope to get invited for shabbos lunch?  Did something similar in Paris a few years back, one of most memorable parts of my trip...

2) Anyone have experience with Wittman tours?

I used them we had a great tour guide. She said she isn't Jewish but has some Jewishness through her fathers side.

Thanks!
