Credit Cards / Re: Best Card for a Future Trip
« on: June 25, 2019, 11:33:03 AM »
Amex cards offering MR points and chase cards offering UR points will give you the most versatility because they can be transferred to airlines and hotels.
If you have specific hotels you want to book it may be better to get a card from that brand as you may get more points on the sign up bonus.

Thanks @grodnoking I dont have a specific hotel in, just something in Jerusalem and I'd like to fly direct (from Miami).  If you had to recommend either the Amex or Chase cards (I'd probably get a business card if it made more sense) which would you do?

Credit Cards / Best Card for a Future Trip
« on: June 18, 2019, 03:52:19 PM »
Hi All,
If I want to take my family to Israel in a few years and want to pay for the big stuff (flight, hotel, car) with miles or points, what is the best card to start using now to accrue enough rewards to make this a reality?
Thanks Folks.

Miles or cash ?

Cash please, unless there is a mileage signup bonus that I can take advantage of.

Hi, my wife and I live in Miami and are setting a goal to take our (3 BH) kids to Israel in 2020. We are pretty flexible on timing and would like to know the most cost efficient time to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

One way/Round-trip: Round trip
Non-stop/Maximum stops/Any: Max stops 1
From: All airports from which you can depart: Miami or Fort Lauderdale
To: All airports which you can arrive at. For multiple destinations, just keep adding this line: TLV
Departure dates: All possible dates that you can depart on. Please be as specific as possible.: Sometime (preferably 1st half of) 2020
Return airports:If different from 'To' line. Delete this line for One-way tickets
Return dates: Delete this line for One-way tickets
Class: First/Business/Coach/Any: Coach
Seats: Total number of people traveling over the age of 2: 5
Alliance/Airline: What airline or alliance are you looking to fly with: Ideally ElAl but open to others

Thank you!

I looked at Chase Slate and its 0% is only 15 months with 5% BT fee after 60 days.
Simplicity is 21 months with 3% BT fee

The business cards are 9 & 12 months...

Credit Cards / Cons of Citi Simplicity for Balance Transfer?
« on: November 13, 2016, 08:39:05 PM »
I want to do a balance transfer to a 0% apr card.  Is there any reason NOT to tranfer to the Citi Simplicity card?  It seems like it has the longest grace period (21 months) of no interest.
Thanks!

Any recommendations for a reasonably priced hotel in Jerusalem (central, not outskirts) for two people, two nights 9/7&9/8.  No need for super luxury (as noted, reasonably priced  ;).  We will also have a car and need to park it somewhere....
Thank you!

Tech Talk / Laptop Suggestion
« on: April 07, 2014, 02:48:32 PM »
I am looking into getting my wife a new laptop for PA (physician's assistant) school which she is starting in a little over a month.  We have both had decent to bad luck with HP's in the past and not really looking to spend Mac $$.  Any recommendations for a laptop that has good speed/memory and will last?   Someone recommended going to a manufacturer's site and building my own, any good/bad experiences?

thanks

I'm flying MIA-Toronto (on American); Toronto-TLV (on ElAl) and visaversa on the return.  I paid for these flights no rewards used.  Can I use Starwood point to upgrade my seats on ElAl?  If so, any idea of roughly how many points would be necessary?
thanks

Tech Talk / Re: Cell Phones in Israel
« on: December 18, 2013, 02:41:44 PM »
going to Israel for 9 days in January.  I have an Iphone 4 but am do for an upgrade (Verizon plan), I was going to wait a few months but I heard it may be worthwhile to go for the upgrade now so I can use my phone (will get a 5s) in Israel with a sim card.
Any suggestions on what company to get an Israel/international sim for the trip? looking for good price and overall EASE.

Thanks,
AG
