Credit Cards And Finance / Re: BitCoin Master Thread

Investing is different than speculating.

I would like to see anyone looking at DOGE as an investment rather than pure speculation.

When speculating, I think it makes sense to go for "free rides" - get your principal out and ride the wave with gains.
In my opinion that shouldnt change how to view money. If you want to speculate you can do so equally with money in the bank or already 'invested'. If its something you consider worth doing, do it, if not, dont.
I belive the reason people do this is purely in order to not have regret if it does go up. Emotional not logical.

My 2 cents, and ill leave it at that. (By all means do whatever you like and I wish you much hatzlacha)

Rule of thumb. If something doubles, sell out the principal immediately and then you can play with free money.
You can also set staggered sell orders for 10% of the stack at every 10-20% gain.
Completely disagree. There is no such thing as free money. If its worth money now its real money, why would you treat it differently than money you previously had? Do you value it less?
The only way to justify an investment is if you had the money in the bank would you take it out to invest it.

Is there a strategy for staggering the profit taking to lock in some (and more over time) gains but still play for upside?

Practical question, someone bought Doge a few days ago and already tripled their money. How much do you sell at this point? A half? Two thirds? Depends on your risk appetite?
The fact that you already have the item should never be considered a reason for keeping it. Only invest however much you would according to the risks of the investment and how much you can afford to lose.
For example, if you invested $5000 at 5 cents and now its worth 20 cents you made 400% profit at 20000. If you would invest $20000 only then is it worth it to hold your investment. If you would invest $10000 then sell half and hold half. But dont look at the fact that you already have it as a reason to hold.

Edit: This is more applicable for highly volitale stocks. In theory it applies to all investments, but those with a proven history you should use a wider time frame to analyze the value of the investment, the value of, lets say a quarter, as opposed to the value on any given day.

Why will you want to call or text from the phone  that is only in the car? What happens when someone returns your call or text? I don't even know the phone number of my smartphone.
Probably he thinks that he will have it as part of the plan. I have heard of being able to split the data from the call/text on a single plan. Not easy to convince a rep to do, but possible.

Edit: could be that wouldnt work anymore if you want to have lte service for talk and text

So I was thinking of using my old galaxy as this phone and leaving it in my car (while praying it doesn't get stolen) and have the Alcatel go flip 3 as my main phone. It still technically has a browser WhatsApp youtube Gmail... It's just not very convenient to use them.
I know someone who did the car idea that you mentioned earlier, it eventually made its way into the house, albeit not as a personal cell phone, but it only had waze and email. It is a good idea in theory

Not sure what you mean when you say it still has browser etc. just not convenient, the flip phone or the smartphone?

Any covid testing sites open today in Miami Beach or anyone know or any they will come to an apt to give the test?
Ready responders

I was looking at the ventana big sur, last week it had points availability for my dates, last night it didnt, today it does. Is that a glitch or did rooms really become available? Also on a related note, how close-in can i rely that there will be points availability?

I think you're very right.
As of right now I have a smartphone with a filter so it's not the filth I'm trying to get rid of.
I'm trying to get off of smartphones altogether. I feel like I don't need it and my life will be so much richer without it.
Wow. Im very impressed, very few people 'downgrade'. Hatzlacha.

All these flip phones with any app you want are also smartphones that happen to flip.
Its true with some of them the OS can support apps, but to call them smartphones is simply not true from two angles.
First the technical aspect - they do not have the capability to run apps like a smartphone. (there are two 'dangers' of technology 1: doing the wrong thing 2: doing the right thing. there are many people who dont have smartphones purely because (the gedolim say so, and) because of the distraction and all the rest of it. A flip phone can never reach that level of distraction/dependency etc. it simply isnt able.)
Second - the hashkafa aspect. Its hard to put in words for those who dont live in the flip-phone circles, but there is a very real difference between having a smartphone with a filter and having a flip phone with a filter
[Im sure you understand]
I have never owned a smartphone.

Back to my original point, for someone who wants a waze or waze+google maps phone, from what I've been told, iPhone allows you to block everything with their parental controls. So, you can't get any more apps or get on the internet itself just use the apps that are there already.
I dont know about iphones, but i have seen it done on androids and the level of kashrus was.... lacking. And yes it was done smartly with all of the aspects thought to be taken care of, but there are always loopholes.

I am not trying to give a shmuz, i just felt the need to raise awareness that this is really not a good idea. Its possible iphones are different

Am I missing something?

It would seem to me that the simplest option would be to buy an old refurbished unlocked iPhone, put it on a cheap data plan, download the few apps you need and have someone else (that you would feel uncomfortable asking to unlock unless it was really important) put on the parental controls for you.
Dont, its just not worth it. Most parental control apps are not sufficient in blocking all content, they do not come to the level of really being filtered, there are loopholes etc.
And another point that im sure not all will agree with, but, at the end of the day its still a smartphone. The idea to get a kosher phone with only the apps needed is that its not a smartphone, as opposed to a smartphone with a filter.

Interesting and I've seen that.
Question is if it will allow even what they might consider "not kosher" music or some other apps that I may need but aren't stranded for most people
I thought he would be able to put on whatever apps you wanted, im sure there is some service that lets you put whichever apps you want on.

I  spoke to a eep in one of the stores,
Practically it's a matter of which bands the phone has, and which bands sprint and tmobile towers are on,
He made it sound like you won't pull service from either tower from one phone at the moment
Not sure i fully understand, the bands on the xp3 are only carried by sprint towers or they are carried by some sprint towers and some tmobile towers but not all towers from either carrier.

On a side note i have noticed a glitch with the external screen that it doesnt update. For example if you and a call with "x" and you end the call the screen will still say ongoing call. Another example if you end a call with "x" and receive a call from "y" it will still show "x". (I did play around with the phone a bit so it could be my fault but i dont think it is)
