Up In The Air / Re: Infant On Reward Ticket Master Thread
« on: June 19, 2016, 01:29:42 AM »
Booked SQ award in J:

LAX-EWR-ZRH-TLV (all on UA except ZRH-TLV on LX).

SQ are saying they're unable to add a lap infant even after multiple HUCAs- they want UA to do it.
UA says they can't because ticket is on SQ stock.

Now SQ is saying I need to book on UA for their legs and LX for theirs- which is ridiculous not to mention outrageously expensive.

Any advice how to proceed? Been back and forth with both airlines for hours.

TK rep is telling me that bassinet seats can go in any row of the J cabin- not just bulkhead. Anyone have experience with this?
I don't want to get on the plane and find out that the bassinet can't go in our row (bulkhead is currently only available in 3 across middle row which I'm trying to avoid).

Possibility phantom, check ANA.

You're right- it isn't showing up on ANA.

SQ agent is telling me that they receive a different amount of OS award space than UA does (i.e. less). Found I class seats on and she says they don't have it. Any truth to this or HUCA?

From TLV to Asia you can connect via IST. For other cities in Europe you need to get the right rep.

For TLV-Asia connecting via IST is ok, but you think they will allow TLV-IST-BKK-LAX for example?

As it is there's no direct TLV-IST available for my dates- I've been checking daily for weeks (Interestingly, tons of IST-TLV)

Got it- looking at Star Alliance airlines that fly to TLV, I don't see any airlines that fly direct from TLV-Asia.
I would have to route TLV-Europe-Asia, which looks like backtracking no matter which airport I route through- even the easternmost airports like ATH and IST.

Am I missing something or does it seem to be impossible?

Anyone else lately being told that they reached the wrong department and that the award redemption team will call you back? Happened 3 times over the past week (and yes, I'm selecting the option for partner redemption awards).
Happened to me too.
On a related note, any chance that they will allow me to route TLV-LAX via Asia? Not finding any availability for my dates via Europe.

One way/Round trip: OW
Non-stop/Maximum stops/Any: any
From: TLV
To: LAX (will also do LGB, BUR, SNA)
Departure dates: 7/17-7/20
Class: Business
Seats: 2
Alliance/Airline: Star Alliance (using SQ miles)

No, though I've heard that you can request glatt at some of them; not sure which ones.

If I recall correctly, Bellacarne is one of them.

Looks interesting, though not the best location. I also can't figure out what type of restaurant they are? They seem to serve a bit of everything.
Seems like an upscale breakfast place with an Israeli twist- i think the chef is Israeli. Should be nice to have another dairy restaurant.

Location is convenient for me- walking distance!

I've heard that KoLA isn't considered a universally acceptable hashgacha...
They certify Coffee Bean . So I guess if someone goes to Coffee Bean for food/drinks, they will eat here.
Possibly less of an issue for those that eat Chalav Stam?

Also for those that will not eat this hechsher- Ice Cream Lab in Beverly Hills is also Kosher LA.

New Kosher place in LA. Haven't been, but menu looks good. Certified by Kosher LA as of today.

How long should it take for miles to show up in account after being redeposited?
 (schedule change->free cancellation and redeposit)

Baghetto Meat and BellaCarne both offer glatt on request.  My personal research found that they were OK.

BUT.... I would highly, highly recommend forgetting the meat for this trip.  I am a meat guy.  I usually think spending money on milchigs is a waste.  Baghetto Milk was spectacular.  Yotvata was closed when I was there for renovations but everyone told me that it was even better than Baghetto.  Just down the block from Baghetto you can pick up delicious pastries from two places (these cherry cheese cake at the corner bakery is the best I have ever tasted and there is a gellato place essentially next door to the bakeries.  Staying milchigs is really worth it in this case.

I was at both Yotvata and Baghetto dairy and I found Yotvata far subpar to Baghetto.

Any experiences with easy access hotels on Shabbat? i.e. easy to get low floors, no sensor lights in stairwells, etc.

Can be Hyatt, SPG, Hilton, IHG, or Choice. Preferably IHG or Choice as I'm shooting for a BRG.
