Credit Cards / Re: Amex Aspire airline credit is too hard to get now?

I already paid prorated $150 AF in May, upgraded in march. I already got fee credit with gc purchase in may.
I am now charged full $450 AF. Will they claw back the  bonus hilton points that are on my Hilton account if I cancel?

Almost certainly, especially if there is language in the upgrade/app

Up In The Air / Re: XL airways goes bankrupt and my uncle is stranded

My uncle had a flight to EY this motzei Yom Kippur via Paris with XL airways. However the airline just went bankrupt and he therefore has no flight. He must get there half of his family is there already. Any ideas for a cheap way to get to Paris motzei YK so he could make his flight to EY

what time is the connection?

Considering he can get a refund (chargeback or if he has travel protection via his credit card), why not take either the Level flight from EWR for $414 or Norwegian JFK? He's probably not eligible for a rescue fare if it was a one-way.

5 pax, staying in BH.

CLE-MIA AA F, 15K Avios (Sitting on a bunch from AMEX 40% and Iberia, effectively 10.7K with 40% bonus. Only $5.60 to cancel.)
CLE-FLL UA Y+, 10.5K UA miles (Probably get 2/5 upgraded for free...which isn't very useful. Best service in case of irrops due to GS. Free cancellation.)
CLE-FLL B6 Y, 5.7K B6 points (Still sitting on a bunch of points from pointmatch)
if  for you, and you dont want to actually get there, then book the AA. otherwise, for such a short flight, and in flight entertainment and better service, not to mention cheaper, i'd go b6
