Credit Cards / Re: Sapphire World MasterCard
« on: October 23, 2013, 03:38:21 PM »
Is the chase sapphire preferred mastercard version over?  Chase rep told me  mastercard version no longer available.  Their relationship/contract with mastercard is over

As of a few days ago, I was offered to switch to MC.

•   1 FREE night stay* (Category 1-4) after account approval
Apply today and as a Premier Cardmember, you'll also receive:
•   1 additional FREE night stay (Category 1-5) every year after your account anniversary date*
•   Unlimited rewards accumulation including:
•   5 points for every $1 spent at over 3,600 Marriott® properties, now including our exclusive luxury hotel partner,
The Ritz-Carlton®*
•   2 points for every $1 spent on airline tickets when purchased directly with the airline, and at car rental agencies & restaurants*
•   1 point for every $1 spent on purchases anywhere else*
•   Your points don't expire as long as you make purchases on your credit card or otherwise remain active in the Marriott Rewards program
•   No foreign transaction fees† and enjoy global acceptance with
Chip and Signature technology
•   15 Credits toward your next Elite membership level every year after your account anniversary*
•   1 additional Elite Credit for every $3,000 you spend on the card in purchases*
Plus, apply now and the introductory annual fee is $0 for the first year; thereafter $85!

Is this a good sign-up deal?

I got 50K offer so this seems good.

There should definitely be a Marriott thread. There are tons of new threads about the card with just 1 question asked and like 1 answer. Then it dies, till someone else starts a new thread to ask their Q.

Does anyone know if it will hurt my chances to get approved for 1 card with chase, if i apply for another one in another browser since i already have a lot of credit cards with them (4)?

Seems like it wouldn't hurt, you just may only get instant approval on 1 card. If you don't get instantly approved and want to call recon, they'll prob ask why you applied for 2, just explain the benefits you were hoping to get from both cards. The call should end at some point with the offer to at least get 1 card approved. This also all depends on how recently you got your previous 4 cards.

I love when recon says you won't get the bonus again, bec. you already got it. LOL. Approved!

Supposedly if you're applying for the same card too soon after you closed it the first time, you could get approved but really won't get the bonus points again.

Can someone post all information necessary to know to be able to cancel a credit card without hurting their credit score?

When canceling a credit card should I transfer my credit line to another card?

Welcome.

Look at this post (that is sticky-ed to the top of the forums page) http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=23990.0 to find threads that already exist on almost every topic. On the right side, you'll see a few posts not from the forum but from DansDeals.com that discuss opening/closing cards. There you'll find that when you close a card, at the least you should get your credit line moved to the new card, if you can't pull off keeping some of it (and not closing the card) while still getting the new card.

I'm trying to put together AOR's for 2 people. So far for amex I got a PRG 50k offer? what can I pair that with?
Also with chase is it worth it to do the southwest 2bm for 2 people or should i only do it for one and then SP and UA for the other?
Thanks

I just did one for PRG, SPG, Delta, and SPG biz.

Chase - what's the Q are these people going to be travelling together? Than SW 2bm for 1 person is enough to get the companion for both of them thru 2015, so use the other person's 2bm for other cards. Or go for more than just a 2bm :)

Credit Cards / Re: Where Did Your Inquiries Pull From?

And in regards to my AOR Sunday night...
[bBarclays[/b] 3 apps (all personal) = 1 pull on TU
Citi 3 apps (2 pers/1 biz) = 2 pulls on EQ (both on same day and they both showed up separately) and 1 pull on EX (wow, they really do kill you - TRDKY?)
AMEX 4 apps (2 pers/1 biz/1 pers charge) = 2 pulls on EX but 1 was the following day (which I found out was from one of the previous day's apps (1 of the pers, not even the biz!) because it just didn't pull it. = lesson learned to apply early in the day so the computer can take time to process and not kill 2 days.

These are the first he's had, but you don't think it's worth waiting until the issues get cleared up? It could be as easy as confirming an address, but if it's the derogatory marks we don't want to have a reconsideration denial before getting the report fixed. Also, I don't know if it makes a difference, but the applications didn't have a "pending" status, they were just flat rejections (at least Barclay was, I don't 100% remember about Citi. He definitely didn't get an email from them).

I don't know enough to know the difference between pending and denial in terms of recon ability. But if it takes 30 days to clear up the issues, then ur recon period will end for those cards. From what I've garnered here, it never hurts to call.

I applied for 6 Chase cards (4 approvals) in the last ~30 days (2bm then a 4bm) some personal, some biz. Turns out everything was on 1 pull (Experian) including recons on almost every card until a recon on a Hyatt last week pulled a new report from TransUnion.

Another perfect case of YMMV

Another update! DH applied for Hyatt, United Explorer, Mercedes Platinum, Citi AA, and Barclay Arrival last night. He got instant approval on Hyatt and the Mercedes Platinum, and Chase was willing to close his Sapphire Preferred to open the United Explorer. Denials on Citi and Barclay.

He pulled his reports today and apparently his student loan servicer reported 9 accounts as having overages, which we assume dropped his score. Interestingly, the derogatory marks only appear on Equifax and Transunion, not on Experian. He spoke with the servicer and they're going to adjust it on their end within the next 30 days.

The question is: what do we do about Barclay and Citi? Can he keep the applications alive until the report is fixed, and is it worth it, considering we'll need them to pull the report again?

Thanks!

Are these the first Barclays and Citi cards he ever had? PUTPAC!!! I was declined for my first Barclays card a few days ago, I called and they just wanted to confirm my address - it could be that easy.

If only we could figure out a way to make learning math somewhat addictive, and with large signup bonuses... :)

Oh right, we need the right incentive. ;)

Yes, Citi id mon used to give all 3 reports (and 3 FAKO scores) as soon as you log in. Now you have to click somewhere or other to show all 3. Once you do look at credit pull section, you'll see hwo pulled when and from which bureau...

FYI Once you login, if you click "Credit Report" you'll be able to scroll down and see all the pulls alphabetically and it will only list the month/year of the pull. But if on the Overview page (the first page you see when you login), you click "Informational Credit Scores" instead, and then go one by one clicking on the grey boxes that say "Equifax Based Score" "Experian..." you can scroll down there and see all pulls chronologically and get the exact date of each pull.

I gave ConEd the numbers from a BB check yesterday to auto-withdraw my month's utility bill. We'll find out if it works in a few weeks!

Never mind, I ended up calling and got them both approved by the same CSR! (she said at first I was declined because the income was too low, but then we added my wife's income into the equation and she approved me for both cards).
Thanks to everyone for all of their advice the last couple weeks while I get familiar with the forum :)

Nice job! I joined over Chol Hamoed. It's crazy how much you can learn about an entirely new topic in just a few weeks. Schools should teach curriculums like this. :-p
