Credit Cards / Re: 2/3/4BM Master Thread

Oh, interesting. Thanks!

I lowered BA and SW biz, neither of which have much use for me. (I still have SW personal and I haven't found much use for BA yet.)

So... I went for a 4bm at the end of September and after recon I got SW biz approved, but nothing else b/c I had done a 2bm just a few weeks before (so I had too many recent cards) and have only been a Chase customer since July (my first card). Today, I called recon to try for the Hyatt that was rejected in the 4bm and after showing how I've used my new cards and been able to pay them (PAY CARDS RIGHT AWAY - I haven't even gotten my first statement on 3 cards, but it showed I can pay my debt!) the rep agreed to shift credit and open the Hyatt! B"h!

Interesting to note: Although cards have a minimum CL to open the card with ($5000 for many Chase cards), they are willing to lower already-open cards below the $5000 req they began with - and again they did this even though my cards are less than a month old.

YMMV. However you can try asking them not to pull again.

Thanks guys.

When you try recon let's say 2 weeks after the original app denial, do they pull your credit again, or it's based on the original report that they pulled when you applied?

Call today to minimize pulls.

Minimize pulls? When they recon, they don't pull again...

Anyone know if BB likes to see the $ stay in your account for a little while before sending it out to pay a bill/write a check, etc.?

Got it. Thanks

I was under the impression that you need to spend on a card every month for credit building.
CMIIW Please!

Oh, I thought you meant to be able to keep the card open. For credit building, I don't have much experience. (not sure how I built mine. I got a co-signed CC at 18 (used it occasionally, definitely not every month) and then didn't apply for another till I was like 20-21 and got approved.) It makes sense, I guess, if you want to build credit quickly that using it every month would be beneficial. But from what I've learned on the forum, even having just a few dollars on your monthly statement and paying it on time builds credit - no need for $200/mo.

I have a crapitol one, which was my first card that i got. I currently have $750 worth of credit on it. I also have amex starwood card with 4k credit.
Should I keep my capitol one card open bec it was my first card? Even if i only put 200 on the card a month, it is using up my credit , which prob lowers my score.

Any advice?

You always want to hold onto your first card, as that's part of the credit score calculation - 1) The lengths of your oldest card. 2) The average age of all your cards (so your first card helps lower that average).

I believe your credit utilization ratio is based on all your combined credit, not each card specifically, CMIIW. So then spending $200/mo on it shouldn't affect you at all. But either way, why use it so much? Use it a few times a year (or even less probably) and they'll keep the card open.

i am currently having similar issue. although i had already seen them merged and accessed the account since then for some reson today its not working. im going to wait another day before i start making phone calls

On my chase personal vs business cards, I was given 2 separate logins. They told me I can either have 2 logins or move over all the personals to the business account. Maybe AMEX has the same story.

You don't have to pick specific account, however, you'll need/want to enter your acc # so it goes to the right card... (by nickname you want to write SP SW etc, so in the future you won't mix up)

Sweet, that's what I did. Thanks

Just wanted to share an experience (I'm sure many know this already).

I was able to upload 2 $500 VRs right before midnight tonight and 2 more $500 VRs right after midnight. (So, yes, BB's $1000 daily max works exactly at midnight.)

A- You can just write Chase and they'll search and give a couple of Chase options and you pick the one that suites your needs the best.

Ok was just making sure I don't need to pick a specific Chase for each CC (i.e. a specific chase account for SP, SW, etc)

So I'm gonna do something crazy and use BB to pay a Chase cc bill that I actually spent a real $3000 on and not just try to use BB to pay off the Chase cc that bought the VR. Hopefully Chase won't have any reason to get upset at that. :)

Q - when attempting to make this payment, I should just type "Chase Credit Cards" into the BB box that says "Who do you want to pay?"

I did a Chase personal 3BM (SP, Freedom & BA) and an AMEX personal 3BM (SPG, PRG & Delta Gold) on April 12, 2013 and was approved for all 6 cards (after several HUCAs).   These were my first 3BMs.

After waiting 90+ days, on July 17, 2013 I did a Chase business (sole proprietorship) 3BM (IB, IP & UMPE) and an AMEX Business (sole proprietorship) 2BM (BRG & SPG Business).  Although I was instantly approved for both AMEX business cards, I was only approved for the IB from Chase (with a $10K limit).  Chase Recon would not approve me for the IP or UMPE despite numerous HUCAs (and the charge vs. credit, primary CDW, etc. shpiel).  They basically said the business was too new (a start-up consulting business), the $10k under the IB was enough for me and that they wanted to see how I did with the IB first.  Over the course of numerous HUCAs, the recon reps also said that I had already had 4 Chase cards opened within the year (the 3 personal in April plus the IB) and they would not approve me for any more cards.  They also said that I had too many applications for credit recently (all I had were the 2 pulls in April and the 2 pulls in July) which they said was a risk indication to them.

When would it be safe to do another Chase 2 or 3BM (I would like to get an IP as well as a UMPE (either personal or business))?  Can I do it later this month (which would be 90+ days) or do I need to wait until the beginning of 2014?  BTW, I have a 780 (FACO) credit rating and excellent credit history (18 yrs oldest; 9+ yrs avg).  Thanks in advance.

Recon lasts for 30 days before they would pull a new CR if you reapplied. So you might as well try to spend money on the IB now and pay it off, and then try recon again closer to 30 days. Maybe they'd trust you then. And of course try moving some of that 10K CL to a new card.
