correct

So the whole MVD wiki should really be on its own thread IMO.

Either way, I'm fine using VR for BB but here's a Q - if they're reloadable, can I just buy 2 cards, pay the fee and then each day upload my $1000 and go to CVS and refill them w/o paying the fee again for a new card? (Obvs up to $5000/month)

well if you empty it onto a MVD card you could geta cash advance from most banks for free

So you wouldn't even need a BB to do that, right?

10878
You could empty your VR onto other cards.

What's the benefit of that?

I'm telling you it is driving me crazy waiting for my BB to arrive lol. I started collecting VRs and am just waiting to get the BB so I can load 'em up. I also want to cash in on the free BB checks offer, but they won't let me "buy" them until I get the card and register. [End rant]

Some banks report in middle of the statement.

Sheesh, do you search "Dan" to find when ppl mention your name in a comment? :-)

Ok so then can you explain this auto-magic approval? I've heard ppl talk about it, but why does it happen? (It also did not work on a 2bm I tried or a 3bm I tried a little while later.)

It will just be another pull on your report. Maybe it makes sense to just wait a few months and then go for an AOR.

Is an AOR basically just doing a few 3BMs in 1 day from different banks? And is the point just so that each bank doesn't see the other banks' credit pulls b/c they're happening at the same time?

From my research, yes it's 30% of the score, and it's best to pay it off before the statement closes (although Dan once made it seem that paying it off like right away is even better, I guess so there's no chance of it showing up in a report. Or perhaps he said that just so you don't forget to pay it off). You do want to keep a little bit still on the bill for the statement so it shows that you're using your card. I also picked up that once you pay it off, you're utilization goes back down - that it's a month to month assessment.

Sorry not going to quote everyone in this response, but a 20 minute call with Chase in the store approved it all! Woo hoo! 1) she said bc they're new cards and 2) bc I registered them w/ a jersey address and my first purchase was large and in NY.

Thanks for the confidence and the calming words guys/gals

No. You think it's illegal to buy VR? ;)

LOL so why is Chase going crazy?

At least the CVS rep is nice and patient.

10886
I found a CVS that will take a cc for VR but a Credit Authorization printed out and they're calling chase now to authorize the purchase. I went for 2 cards for $1000. Did I just mess this up?

Marco Polo's point was that if you always want a SPG card in your wallet but still want to be able to get the signup bonus, you can stagger you and your wife's ss

Gotcha. There should be a way to like a comment instead of making a comment that just says thanks or acknowledges the point made.

I'm also curious what people's thoughts are on keeping the SW card. Is the $99 AF worth the 6000 annual bonus miles they give you? Especially now that after March '14 it will cost more miles to book a flight.

This is all JMHO and may not be the case for everyone in all scenarios.

A card which has a 12 month wait time, is one i would close down and wait for the next bonus, unless the benefit is something i truly value.
A lot of cards don't have a set wait time, or they are shorter, making it easier to churn and keep the benefits.

A lot of people are churning under multiple SS#'s (spouse or someone else) which makes churning the "12 mont wait cards" not bad.
For example, the SPG card. One can get the bonus and keep it for a period of time and then apply for it under another SS #. This way you ca get the benefits of the card, and the signup bonus, sooner than a year.

Isn't it obvious that you could use a spouse's SS - even the same day and get both bonuses?

5000 is the limit using Vanilla Reloads / Walmart Gift Cards.

Ahhh okay that makes sense.
