Credit Cards / Re: Introducing the new United MileagePlus Club Card
« on: October 09, 2013, 04:58:09 PM »
Rumor has it Dan that you don't sell your miles (maybe that's even well-known and I'm just too noob to know), so what do you do with all the points?? lol Just go to a United lounge for breakfast and then fly to another lounge for dinner?

Yah, why dont you go ahead and read every single post and report back.

lfas was clearly being sarcastic, and I was joining in on the fun. I think that the forum-style of conversation is great in some ways, but terrible in others. (like finding info about a specific question if it's not listed in the wiki)

I guess you didn't read all 5765 posts on this thread first...

Try shifting some CL before closing. don't ask the reconsideration rep to do it ??? just call CUS first then call back recon that your willing to take their offer and close the card.

Why the ???

Wait a second, why is anyone getting paper statements? The world is leaving paper behind, the tree huggers are enthusiastic and DDF'rs are still getting paper statements???

They locked me out for uploading money to my BB account online from a gift card.  VR to BB is not a problem.

Oh. (phew) Yes, that stinks. Sorry you were the guinea pig, but thanks for sharing with everyone. Glad VR is still an option.

Yes, they do not allow you to load $ from a prepaid card online.  If you do they will catch on within a few days and close you down.  If you have already done so and they lock you out, play dumb and apologize and say you didn't know and the customer rep should restore your functionality.  In future only load GC onto BB at Walmart ATM.

I was able to load VR onto BB right after midnight today.

Sorry, just to clear the confusion. Are you saying that you were caught and shut down for uploading GCs online or VR online?

I called.  They locked the account because of the prepaid card.  Warning to everyone out there.  Do NOT upload funds from a prepaid card to BB online.  They WILL shut you down.  I played dumb and said I didn't know and apologized and they customer rep has removed the lock.

B/c you uploaded via prepaid?? All of a sudden that's an issue?

Side problem is that with new UI it seems that no one's been able to upload a VR to BB successfully yet.

Hopefully I will be able to resolve it without them shutting me down.
Good Luck!

Thanks very much for the info. The rep told me about the new 30-day cycle but I'm concerned that if I wait the full 30 days they'll have to re-pull my credit report. Gonna try HUCA'ing and SM first and if all else fails, will then call back in 30 days. Thanks again.

If it's within the 30 days of the recon, I don't think they'd be pulling a new report. They look back at the data from the credit report that was pulled from the original application.

I'm not lacking in creativity but I can't seem to convince them to let my wife open a business card. This would be her first... They are claiming they need to see more history on her personal cards and won't let me shift credit or close a card to open itů

For me I got my first business card approved, b/c I was on a Chase biz checking account w/ a former employer. I told him I left that co to start my own thing and needed my own card for it. Even though I told him I revenue was $0, I explained it was a side project as I have a full time job. I also explained to him the nature of my startup (i.e. hobby) and that it would hopefully lead to some revenue in the coming months.

I'm sure you're story is different, but there are creative ways to get approved.

BTW, the link says that you can apply for business and personal but after you apply for one of them it no longer allows you to apply for the other one. So, I called up and they let me apply over the phone. So far, I'm not seeing any credit inquiries at all from Amex (although I am seeing from Chase and Barclays which I also did today), so I'm hoping this will only be one credit inquiry for the 3 Amex apps I did today. If you plan on doing, this, probably best to fully open both applications before submitting one.

Chase Freedom  - pending (not terribly hopeful)
Barclays Arrival - instant approval.
Amex BRG - Approved after calling
Amex Delta Gold Business - Approved after calling
Amex Delta personal - pending (guy said systems were slow)

What are you checking your credit live with?

It also can affect you the next time you apply for a card. The companies do not like to see many pulls on your report.

Got it. Okay thanks.

Ding Ding... Chase A/A..

Doesn't seem like anyone has actually confirmed that A/A has come from VR.
