Credit Cards / Re: Credit Card Retention Bonuses
« on: June 14, 2015, 11:26:00 PM »
I got 4 offers now for advantage exec.

1. Spend $5K in the next 3 months get 15K miles.
2. Spend $1.5K every month for the next 7 months and get $50 statement credit every month (total $350)
3. Spend $1.5K every month for 3 months and get $100 and 5K miles.
4. Every month in the next 16 months that I spend $1K, I get 1K bonus points.

I was billed on the 23rd so I need to decide today if I want to pay or cancel.

I can take 1 of the offers and then cancel within 37 days from the 23rd but I won't be getting any of the bonus points by then. (Unless I take option 1 and spend it all before this statement closes, maybe they'll credit the points before 37 days. Not very easy to spend that much in a manner that it will post by the 23rd.)

Only was offered 1-3, but also an option to downgrade to Plat (which I already have), Gold, Bronze  ::), or any Citi non-AA card that I would like.  What?  haha  Are there any Citi non-AA cards worth downgrading to?  I was told that I wouldn't get the bonus for the card I downgrade to, so I am shooting for closing or #2.  Thoughts?

Ditto.  Any play on this?

This place is in Torrance, CA. Not LA.
LA county is what I meant.  Torrance is not very far.

So, this is the first Kosher establishment that I have personally seen on this site for LA.  There's a current promo for $20 off $20 today only AND for this restaurant after 3pm, you get 20% cash back extra.  DON'T FORGET TO SIGN UP (mogl.com), and add email and cc info for it to work! I recommend one card per person.  I've done one card per acccount before for 4 promo months straight (16 accounts), and they flagged me to stop.  The T&Cs were ambiguous and said per account so....  But, they did say that they have changed it to per person from here on out...after $12k+ of damage.  ;)  Many places like Subway, Umami Burger, Togo's, Chronic Tacos, Domino's, Papa John's, and other franchises are on it, and I've been able to buy and resell gcs for good profit.  Not many kosher options, but another possible income stream.  Currently in CA and AZ only.

Just called again for retention bonuses:
9k bonus Avios for $1500 spend in 3 months on BA card
IB $95 statement credit, no spend required
UME $60 statement credit, no spend required
UC $100 statement credit, no spend required.

Awesome! But, why didn't you take the 10k UA instead when they first offered it?  I'm going to try for that today.

Wow!  The worst experience ever at any Hyatt property.  It seems like everyone was a newbie here at PHNYC.  The only good thing that I could say is that one of the managers gave us a 2 single bed room for $150 as we had arrived at 2:30am yesterday morning for our 5/6-7 stay.  Thank goodness he did that because even if we asked for early check-in for our actual king bed room, we did not get checked in until after 4pm.  After 4pm!!!  I could understand that they were somehow overbooked this week, so I was not expecting early check-in.  But, being checked in way past the standard 3pm check-in time is ridiculous.  That's not all!  When we got our room change, they double booked the room, so someone else was in there when we were being moved.  So, we had to move to another room which was a lower level room.  All they could say was, "I'm so sorry..."  We wasted most of our day waiting for our room yesterday.  Although, they did give us chocolates and a bottle of sparkling wine, and we could leave anytime today, I feel that the whole experience and inconvenience factor deserves more compensation.  I don't understand how this is a 5 star hotel.  I am not impressed especially as it is a new hotel.  The manager has not even reached out to me.  In fact, I had to reach out to them every so often to find out about our room change status.  Even at a P&C rate, I feel like I overspent.  What is a fair compensation to ask for for this experience?  Should I even do so?  I'm Plat, if that makes a difference, and I'm staying at many Hyatts for the next two weeks.

An fyi for whomever reads this: at 2 am today cabs were $58 flat. I alternatively decided to Uber it to PHNYC and pool shared for $48.32 of which nobody shared with us but we kept the same rate. I stacked this with an apparent 40% off promo (as I got a receipt for only $28.99), and paid with a Cap1 Quicksilver for an extra 20% off + 1.5% cash back.  ;D

Really? In LA, some Uber drivers are not allowed unless they have the permit plates on their cars, so the prices are much higher coming from LAX because of the extra $$ that they tack on to the bill due to having to pay for the access permits.  This does not apply at JFK?

Uber?
I was thinking same, but I'll take a shuttle to whatever hotel there is nearby, so I could get cheaper fare.  Any current NY Uber freebie codes?  I'm all used up.  :-\

Arriving at JFK at 1:15 am on the 6th (in a few hours), and I was wondering what the best way to get to Park Hyatt NYC is? or, cheapest way? or, even most cost effective way?  TIA
