« on: November 26, 2013, 09:15:40 AM »

Egged (or some of their bus drivers) require you to fold your stroller, or you pay for the baby (not sure if this is true but thats what one driver told me, it is possible that if you don't you are violating their rule but that doesn't require you automatically to pay for an extra person; dunno.).

just to update: its not required any more in Israel to pay for open strollers on any public transportation, except between 7 - 9 in the morning.

What about the the short connect time between BOS and PHL? My Philly flight leaves 12:15 and my flight from Boston arrives 11. Arriving in tel aviv 6:15am erev shabboss. If I miss the connection what happens?

if you miss, than you will stay for shabbos in the USA.

Up In The Air / Re: Turkish Air miles
« on: November 25, 2013, 04:41:36 PM »
How can I get the best value for Turkish air miles?  We have 6 round trip tickets from TLV to JFK.
I understand that Turkish Air is a member of the Star Alliance, but what does that mean for me?
Which miles program should I sign up for and what can I do with the miles?

if  you have a cheap class you will only get miles in their program, not in any other *A program

Looking to go to tzfat/teveria for the day I know hoffman tours has a day trip for $89 and an erev rosh chodesh trip for 99 shekel, anyone know what the difference between the two are besides english and hebrew (rosh chodesh one), or are they just scamming americans? Anyone have any experience with this tour?

sorry for the delay, just joined the forum today,

the answer is: they are just scamming americans

Was there a few years ago for a day time stopover with two friends. In the main arrival hall they had a luggage storage that was not expensive, where we left our carry on luggage. Outside of the arrival hall I asked the guy in charge at the taxi stand for a English speaking driver, that was available within a couple of minutes. I told the taxi driver we got to be back at the airport in 7 hours for my connection flight and we would like him to shows us around the city but to start off I told him that I would like him to take us to the old jewish cemetery where Rabbi Naftali Katz, author of the Sefer Smichas Chachamim is buried. He knew exactly where it was. At cemetery they asked us for ID and asked us to empty our pockets, and was told that taking pictures is forbidden (no idea why). From there we went to Cevahir Mall that is one of the largest malls in Europe. At the mall they where many nice shops and some fun attractions, like a roller coaster that rolls down through the balconys of the first few floors. From there we went to the Neve Shalom Synagogue. We were not permitted to go inside. Police told is that since the 2003 bombing you need to reserve in advance to go inside. From there we stopped for some pictures at the Blue Mosque and headed back to the airport. Seven hours is a very short time to cover the city but you should be able to see most of it in a few days.

because the cemetery is next to a army base, but I managed to take a few pictures (was there in Apr.)

just for the information -  if anyone need it - there are toilets at the cemetery, also cold drinking water for free & the opening hours are 9 - 5

how much did you pay for the taxi for the whole trip?
